This is a very insightful take. My wife doesn't notice bits and bobs but if something random enters the collection she will. I have so many random projects and unbuilt things that she doesn't bother trying to keep an inventory. She also knows that I don't abuse the trust she has in me that I won't spend the bill money on terrain or that new model I have my eye on.That interview was crazy. If he said "It's a nice sunny day"
"So you're saying clouds don't have a right to exist!"
I'd be REALLY impressed if a wife or girlfriend noticed this.
This reminds me of a Pat McMannus humorous essay on expanding your gun collection under your wife's nose.
Paraphrasing.
First gun, your wife is actually happy you have a new hobby.
Second gun, explain that you need one gun for deer and one for pheasants.
Third gun, you get an eyeball roll. New husbands panic and start sneaking guns in after this point, but experienced husbands know that an eyeball roll is not that bad.
Fourth, gun. Exasperated wife says "Why do you need all those guns for anyway!?!"
This important because it is now "those guns". The guns become a collective entity and she won't notice when more guns appear as long as you expand your gun rack each time so there is always the same amount of empty space at the end of it.
That should be easier with miniatures than guns. It's hard to tell the difference between 220 models and 240 models unless you are actually dating a Warhammer fan who pays attention to what the models you have in which case she should not be opposed to more models.
