It all comes down to their starting unit size. Witch Elves, in horde formation, cap their attack output at 30 models, while the Trolls benefit from a larger unit (points-wise). I believe the same would hold true for the Khorne Chaos Warriors, but they'd need a significantly larger (unrealistic) size to pull it off.

To demonstrate the theory, have a look at the matchup replayed with two vastly different unit sizes, one larger and one smaller than what we just witnessed:

You're right. At this point, I think the thread question has been pretty definitively answered. I may do a few more matchups and then call it quits.

Well the interesting thing still is what build of Choas Warriors suits what type of enemy best. Definitely not Khorne ;)

Also the Tzeentch build seemed to work better against the K'daai Fieborn and Witch Elves than the Trolls.
So for specific list tailoring it might have a purpose.

I 100% fully agree.

  • Trolls are by far ahead of the pack
  • Khorne + AHW are not competitive compared to their peers

That leaves us with Halberd Nurgle versus HW&S Tzeentch. They have been trading places throughout this analysis. One may end up slightly ahead of the other by the end of this, but the difference is not significant. Nurgle CW tend to dominate more often, while the Tzeentch guys tend to be more reliable. It seems highly matchup dependent. As you say, matchup specific data remains to gleaned from further analysis.
