What are you doing today hobbywise?

Just completed assembling my set of Cawdor gangers, so I’m trying to decide what kind of paint job would look good on them. The fire and red and orange and all that seem a bit overdone, I can never manage a decent black paint job, and white would be a bit on the nose, with all those hoods, so I’m thinking maybe a mix of blue and red or blue and white, or possibly grey.

Sometimes people have to forgo financial wealth in pursuit of the greater good! :D
to be perfectly fair, the general style has grown on me. I think of them as "lawful good chaos warriors" as the best description compared to old world races. and hell, i get to mess around with new kits in the process.

Please never compare them to my beloved Chaos Warriors! :rage:

;)
you have to see it though. the general shape of the shields, the heavy armor, unflinching faith in a powerful deity, brought into creation through a mix of power/magic/warp energy and the human body/personage. they are sigmars version of chaos warriors.

No they are Sigmar's version of Space Marines. Hence the coining of the term Sigmarines.

So, basically lawful good chaos warriors.
:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

No... they are the AoS version of 40k's Space Marines. They serve the same function in both games. They garner the lion's share of support/updates in both games. They have ridiculously over-sized shoulder pads in both games. They are GW's poster boys from both games.

The only (but not small) difference is that SM are "humans" against all odds, while SCE are immortal dudes with no tie to humanity.
From an immersion pov, things are fairly different

I screwed up on my Morghast's last armor piece. Too thick color, brush strokes (in fact it looks like if _I_ had a stroke, while painting), it looks dire. Trying to correct that at the weekend.

After a couple of reforgings or whatever, true, but when they’re first created most Stormcast Eternals are just especially devoted, powerful warriors of Sigmar. They still remember most of their pasts, so in that sense they’re rather like Space Marines. Of course, that all changes when they need to be reborn and Nagash makes a grab for their souls, but at the very least they start out that way.

Yes, but the original look for the Space Marine was based on the Chaos Warriors aesthetic, so they are, from a certain point of view, lawful good Chaos Warriors. :)

My point is more that SM are the ultimate defense of humankind. Humanity / the Imperium is surrounded by endless threats, to play SM is kinda like to play a thing similar to this, on a universe scale (well, in this case you would be playing Praetorian Guard, but you get my point).
For us, human players, it's easier to identify ourselves with SM / Guards.
This kind of "immersion" doesn't happen with angelic beings devoted to a god.

That's a pretty wide net you're casting there. Ever heard of the six degrees of separation?
