No worries, I was thinking originally for the Therizinosaurus as a Dinosaur Giant equivalent. I think I said Golem due to most being of larger size, I totally forgot the whole "stone" element to them. Apologies for any confusion.
The way I see it, they could add pretty much anything to the lizardmen now and have it be ok with canon. Seraphon have spent thousands of years among the stars now. Who knows what other creatures and allies they have made. Additionally Depending on how you interpret that one line in the battletome fluff, they could also all be long dead and just memories of the slann conjured up to fight. They could just go an inception route and just dream up bigger and better things. Sky is the limit design-wise.
well I'd say they'd still largerly would need to be reptilian, or magical in nature, if only to maintain faction coherency (though in fairness, the grand allegiances already ruin that...) But yea they could branch out quite a lot given the lore.
Liking the top image, shame I can't do something like that for armies on parade. Unofficial GW models. Then it would be nice for them to release a huge dino to carry large amounts of lizards into battle.
That version was custom built for the Lustria campaign, and featured in White Dwarf and the Lustria campaign book.
I remember seeing it in the campaign book, and being incredibly disappointed that it was never made into a mold.
Ditto here. I always hoped Forgeworld would have taken up the idea to make a cold, but instead we have the Dread Saurian which i guess is a compromise of sorts. That was probably my earliest memory of being teased by GW only to discover the truth.
And the bottom one, of course, is from the old General's Compendium, the 6th ed. era "How to run a campaign" book. I have a copy somewhere in my game closet. That model was the one that started my creative juices going on creating a 4X Warhammer campaign, essentially a way to run Master of Magic as a Warhammer campaign. I'll probably never actually be able to run it, but it was a fun exercise to create it.
My take away from this thread is that I should just trawl ebay for any plastic dinosaur models I can find and convert them...
I would rule out the Golem idea since it's just too similar to Wolds in Horde's Circle of Orboros, and GW would't want that for sure. What I would like to see is the avatar of Dracothion or whatever the name of the great drake is, similar to the great feathered serpent (of course it will not be the same, but the basic idea still holds up). I would also like to see some toad riders for light cav, two skinks on giant fire breathing (star fire) toads of awesome. Some winged serpents/boas (two headed to mark the difference) would be nice with Saurus riders (saurus on bikes). Some oversized skinks would also be nice, with bows and perhaps using serpents (just like the bad guy in Conan the Barbarian) as arrows. Likewise, some pigmy saurus would also be awesome, hero hunters or monster hunters. I just hope we can have an update soon. But one thing is for sure, when it happens it will be awesome. The models these guys are releasing just have me more excited with the possibilities we can have.
