Actually I just read through the fluff in the last white dwarf and it did point out something I didn't realize. Nagash actually controls the entirety of the undeath. There's no true seperate factions, each and every vampire, necromancer, or undead monstrosity pales so much in comparison to Nagash that they have no choice but to obey him. This means that undeath is the only grand Alliance without any internal struggles. A unified grand Alliance & the undeath Alliance at that, means they probably hold the largest most organised force of everyone. Chaos has its various daemonic faction, Destruction doesn't really understand the concept of organisation, and Order consists mostly of relativly "normal" humans/elves/dwarfs/etc, a significant part of which'l scheme and politic to screw eachother over if they think they get a benefit out of it. For example as far as I know the dwarves and elves still can't exactly stand eachothers guts, though at least they're now willing to openly work together should the need arise.

If they go with that approach Undeath might actually be enough of a threat to everyone to force some unlikely alliances. Or at least convince the various factions to not kill eachother for a moment while they kick Nagash back into his tomb, similarly to how the various chaos gods will gang up on whoever of em is getting too powerfull. i'm not seeing an SCE fighting back to back with a khorne warlord, but agreeing on a minor "cease fire" seems plausible, especially if they actually make some decent characters and not just 2d heroes and villains. Of course, that "cease fire" will include the occasional "oops I didn't realize you were that close and would get caught in the blast of my artillery".

In my heart he will always be the usurper but yeah you are right.
Death should be a MAJOR threat, not the poorly supported faction it has been til Now.
Hope the new tome will change something... but Death needs also new models

To be honest, they'd better introduce some new proper factions with those models. The Death grand Alliance completly and utterly owning allegiance to Nagash means Nagash should easily be able to conquer everything. The only ones that might stand a realistic change against literally every single dead thing across all realms ever*. Would be the seraphon, as our slann can conjure up similar numbers from memory while maintaning the required order to actually fight such a massive front. Plus, I'm guessing the conjured seraphon won't leave a corpse or soul for Nagash to claim, which would mean Nagash might actually run out of corpses/souls at one point, and even that would require the slann to figure out a way to stop nagash from raising the same souls/corpses over and over. Hell not even the various factions of chaos stand a chance without properly unifying seeing as Nagash never actually needs to fight them. If Nagash simply murders everyone in Order and Destruction there's noone to sustain chaos, no emotions of rage for Khorne, no scheming for Tzeentch, no circle of life for Nurgle no freaky stuff for Slaanesh, and the horned rat probably won't survive without the believe from his skaven either...

Death's fluff has become rather scary with that those few throwaway sentences of Nagash controlling literally every single dead thing across all realms ever *. It's rather absurd compared to the other grand alliances that at least have some internal struggles. Hell, how would they even set up a break away Death faction, giving it multiple Nagash-like beings in a state of constant battle vying for whatever souls they can get? So sort of a ripoff of chaos but with more skulls (heh.. more skulls than chaos, as if they don't have enough of em...). Unless there's something preventing Nagash from raising the same souls over and over he should be nigh unstoppable, and even if he can't all he needs to do is wait several millenia and then just venture forth with an army consisting of millenia worth of death from every single other faction. Hell, just throwing them at the enemy in a large pile would be enough to destroy any and all resistance by sheer weight of numbers...

    * with the exception of SCE cuz apparently Sigmar can cheat the defacto god of death, how exactly did Sigmar lose his first wars if he is that powerfull anyway? What kind of incapable general is he?

    Some good points there.

About Sigmar... I think he isn't really on the battlefield these days. He seems to be kinda busy doing.... something. At home. Maybe creating more SCE or so.
He even gave his hammer to someone else to fight with it.

At least he has the excuse of having been mortally wounded and all such.. Sigmar's just being upset cuz he lost a war, again...

Haha yeah I was going to suggest that parallel as well.

....but actually I am glad that Sigmar isn't in the game as a model.
Judging by the hate of 40K players on how that Robot Gulliver guy (no that's not his name but reasonably close) "killed 40K" Sigmar would be even worse...

Meh, sigmar not being a model is fine, but even as just fluff he's a bit weird as he doesn't seem to actually be doing anything apart from throwing stormforged at his problems. And in all honesty, from what limited fluff I've seen the stormforged haven't been especially effective. There's still only a handfull of major strongholds outside of Sigmar's own city. Hell, most stuff outside his own city that's Order seems to be just the other mostly independent factions like say fyreslayer lodges, the few sylvaneth strongholds that nurgle hasn't overrun and whatever areas the slann control. (also another point in which Death is far ahead of the other factions, Death actually controls an entire realm.)

The emporer at least has the excuse of being stuck on his throne for not being more succesfull. And the empire as a whole is probably as succesfull as it can possibly be till without a primarch or the emporer himself leading it while being threatenend by pretty much everything else in existance.. And gulliver/guilleman/papa smurf is at least trying to do something now that he's awoken.

On a sidenote, apart from people being generally butthurt cuz there's finally some story progress and as is common the smurfs get to save the day again, why would guileman being a model break 40K? Aren't there like 4 or 5 primarchs playable, most of which being chaos, most of which where available before guilleman?

I actually didn't watch the videos too closely that are titled "why Guilliman killed 40K" but it seems they don't like how he is a too powerful single model to the point where killing him is the only thing that matters on the table. You cannot win without killing him and if you kill him the player who played him definitely loses.

And Magnus or Mortarion or a freaking titan don't have that issue? I'm not knowledgeable on 40K, but I find it hard to believe he's the only one capable of that given what models are available and what I know about their fluff..

    That story was awesome!

    ''By Sigmar!''

''No, not by Sigmar. Sigmar has forsaken this place. But Nagash, sees your struggles.''

    The chills

Ok so I guess everyone has read those recent few by now, so I'd like to talk about them a bit.

The one with the sick boy:
I interpret the guy who destroys the door and presumably kills the father as a Stormcast, white armor is a Knight Excelsior I think? Some zealot order who kills innocents. Sigmar takes the "Order but certainly not good" role here.
Which fits the last story quite well in which we seem to see a Nagash priest (is she a vampire? I am not sure...) in the role of the "good", being an angel of Death.
And then the Nurgle story which explains the interesting relationship between Nurgle and Death. Quite cool IMO.

Yeah, there stories are truly good. The one with the sick boy is the less appealing (at least to me) but all the other ones are powerful, and give depth to the lore.
