AoS Second Edition

Speak of the Dinosaur and she shall appear! Seraphon focus is up!

Almost mandatory to take a Slann and Bearer to generate enough points and take a Skink priest with feathered cloak to unleash endless spells away from your own units.

I've just listened to it for a minute and heard an interesting thing:
One of the new spells with models is a wall that blocks shooting.
Might be the crystal wall we've seen in that one picture.
Yeah, the actual effect to that seems brillaint. Combined with that spell mirror thing that was shown a lile while back it does seem like the endless spells will actually be very interesting.

The answer to most of our questions about Endless Spells is the same as the answer to most of our questions about Second Edition in general. We don't know yet.

I think the way they're dispensing and dispersing information across multiple media (Community articles, Facebook posts, now this podcast) is interesting, if, yes, sometimes frustrating. Not everybody has the time or physical plant to comb through all of that. On the other hand, we're well into the 21st century now, and social media and podcasts are a big thing. A big CHEAP thing when it comes to spending advertising dollars (everything we're seeing officially from GW is, at bottom, an advertisement).

I'm more or less sanguine about the information delivery. If I miss something, somebody else will catch it and post about it here or on the Grand Alliance community. That said, I'm also, day by day, growing less interested in obsessively hitting refresh on the open tab that houses the Community page in my browser. The longer they go with no Seraphon news, the more I'm inclined to just wait until the new books come out and see what is actually what.
Meh, splitting it up this much seems more bad than good imho. But yea it is at least an effective way of generating costant buzz if all you do is release 1 rule per day for 3 months instead of just releasing 1 book I guess…

I just wonder if you pass up all spells ti generate the points. It works out to 1 point per spell which makes sense.

Actually seems like not an informative faction focus. Only 1 rule was mentioned. Seems that we only see some changes to units only in GH 18

Well that was expected, they did this with pretty much every Faction Focus, it is just little teases as to what to expect with the new edition.

It is, but the way I look at it, I was already investing the points for say, a Kroaknado, which just got even more interesting with Kroak and Astrolith Bearer

True but after your first turn you would have between 5 and 7 points if your Slann is general, didn't cast and one bearer, 6 points needed so what's betting 6 points is 10 skinks that you could or could not summon turn one, is that worth not casting with Kroak?

Well generally turn 1 Kroak doesn't go for the full kroaknado yet, so he can just cast mystic shield, and comets, and then use the other casts for Celestial points!

I'm not clear on that either… it could be either sacrifice 1 spell for 3 points, sacrifice 3 spells for 3 points or even sacrifice 3 spells for 9 points.

And to be honest, given the limited point generation even with a slann & astrolith bearer either stuff is going to need to be increadibly cheap or you're going to need to be able to generat those 9 points/turn. After all, just having your slann sit there generating points is kind of eh.. useless.. it's not like our slann is good for anything besides his spells.

To be honest out of the ones I've seen so far ours seems the most unwieldy and the only one that kinda goes directly against what you're supposed to be doing.

Nurgle generates points by spreading his trees & occupying as much of the board as possible. You're already going to do that regardless.
Slaanesh generates points by stabbing stuff with heroes. Slaanesh heroes are all good close-combat guys so that's already what you're doing anyways.
Khorne generates points by having stuff die, be it friend or foe. Again that's going to happen regardless.

And then there's us; generating points by having our slann not cast spells, the one thing a slann is actually supposed to do.

It feels very weird with only this much information.

Oh shit hang on I read it wrong so if he does not cast he could have 13 points plus the D3 for the bearer, now that changes things alot.....

Hmmm....
Not _bad_ but not overwhelmingly good either. I had hoped for at least the Starseer and the EotG also playing a roll there.
But let's wait for the Warscrolls. Maybe those are just the basics and there will be some modificators to those rules, could be on warscrolls of units or bataillons.

The part that is so vague about it is they say instead of casting A spell, not all so it seems like its 3 per. But 10 on turn 1 seems really crazy, unless our stuff costs a ton. A great unclean one is 21 points I believe?

Oh and one more thought:
If we can create 12+ points each round with Kroak that might be pretty strong actually. Three Terradons every round means that the enemy always has to attack them or risk being hit by their bombs in the next round.
And with the10" range on their javelins they will at least shoot once without the enemy being able to do anything.

Also it fits Kroak's fluff well IMO. Staying in the back summoning endless hordes of Seraphon all the time.

You can only summon each unit once per battle, that's how it is for Maggotkin so I bet it's the same.

28. and their base generation is essentially D3 +3.

what? where does it say that?

Hmmm it also seems to me as if summoning cost is roughly point cost divided by ten.
...but that might mean Sallies and Razors getting more expensive, which I dislike. :/
