AoS Second Edition

why are they both capable casters & powerfull melee combatants… and that's ignoring their supportive capabilities…
Also, why do they get a super arcane bolt?
The slann and Kroak really need a significant buff if anyone's going to want to claim they're actually good casters. At this point we're starting to look rather puny...

Also, their mounts look creepy as hell.
That's it. I'm calling armored slaan and armored kroxigors

I might use Aventis's mount for my Hysh Beastmen, not sure what to use it for though.
The other one just keeps reminding me of a baby version of a Carnosaur

I can't wait to see the new Slann abilities very soon. Those SCE guys are meant to be mediocre casters, so a Slann will wreck face pretty hard.

Silly question...
Is the new General handbook included in the hard-cover book of 300+ pages that's in the " war of the souls" box?

My real gripe is that with all this the Carno gets more and more lack luster! There. I said it. And I do feel better. Lmao

I do wish the carno was a bit more fearsome but I feel like with the new spells, command ability rules, and others buffs they can still be pretty nasty.

Although in the spirit of recent posts the SCE do seem to have the entire game built around them, with new features only added when it benefits them. That said I'm torn, other than some of the heroes I actually really like the new stormcast and nighthaunt and will probably be building both as my next armies.

imho, most of em don't look terrible and even tend to have fairly interesting rules. It's just that they tend to have better stuff than nearly everything else. It's quite weird to see it to this degree for only 1 faction. At least usually you have 2 factions that get all the glory so there's at least some competition.

The weird thing I still cannot compeltely wrap my head around is this:
If SCE are that great, why don't they win more tournaments, except with one or two cheese lists (like everyone else) despite there usually being way more SCE players at tournaments than everyone else?
If you look at their models, there are hardly any of our models that have nearly as awesome stats as most SCE units, they have several battletomes full of traits, prayers, artefacts, mount traits and whatever else, and still you don't see armies being steamrolled by SCE as often as by some others.

And outside of the competitive scene: In all my games against Stormcast I have lost a single game that was a really bad matchup (Firelance against a SCE tank list). My experience is that _they_ are calling _us_ OP more often than vice versa. And it is not only them, others as well.

Maybe GW is actually doing a better job - balance wise - than many of us give usually give them credit for, and it is really only the SCE's ubiquity that makes them so annoying for us.

I recently had a - mostly good - discussion with someone at the TGA forums about that, and I wonder in which ways some of our discussions might actually be echo chambers that distort our view a bit.

My problem isn't that the Stormcast are too powerful, it's that they're always getting new things an neglecting other faction just so the they can get an update. For all i care, since i don't play the game, the Stomcast could be the worst faction in the game rules wise, i would still dislike the overwhelming favoritism that GW shows them.

When talking about balance, i do think GW have stepped up their game a lot since AoS was released. GW is actually interacting with the community, a prospect that would have been unthinkable 8-10 years ago and taking criticism from them and using it effectively. Stormcast currently isn't the strongest faction, and i think that is intended. Their entire design philosophy appears too be jack of all trades master of none.

Ohh, this community is absolutely an echo chamber. Many of the people on here is former fantasy players and let's just say that the "End Times" left a very bad taste in many fantasy players mouths, some more than others. But you are correct about this site being much of an echo chamber, we all like too shit on GW, even when they are doing good things, because many of us have seen firsthand the stupidity, favoritism and complete neglect of entire factions and tabletop games that GW has done. I think many of us straight up refuse too acknowledge all the good GW is doing, but this community is getting better at looking at GW in a relatively positive light. if you look at other Warhammer community's, especially those on reddit, you will realise that this community isn't that much of an echo chamber as it could be.

I don't think they are OP as you have already said they don't win at tournaments, I think it comes down to they get more releases than every other faction so power creep will come into the new stuff more often than not, I know the latest releases are aimed at making the SCE a fully rounded army with the introduction of wizards and they do have some nice models, if they had options for human heads and less armour I would be very tempted to buy some of the models.

I think in AOS2 Seraphon will be a tough nut to crack.
