Blog Ndege's painting and conversion lab - Nuff said!

Though his feathers don't really do anything for me,
Very true... the feathers need some more love... was originally planned to look like some pheasant feathers... Will surly get back to these soon...

Here's what I've actually done in the last days... was way too hot and I had problems with the sweat dripping from my glasses...:cyclops:
20170622_075816.jpg 20170622_075742.jpg 20170622_075802.jpg silver on the priest...20170622_075535.jpg 20170622_075520.jpg 20170622_075459.jpg
Concept for the ripper... theyrthey're going to be part of the gray skinned part of my army...

Terradons (this unit) reinforce the brown skinned part of my army... obviously just started...

And I did a little work on this guy... feathers, scales, crest and some metal...
Hope you like it and leave me some comments...

They all look good so far, I'm not so sure about that grey skink looks chalky but that could be the camera.
Yes he looks not so nice right now... guess it's partly because of the camera and partly because it's just a single layer of grey over a purple skin, which I didn't like (cause of army coherence and too much purple on the whole model) and painted over...

Maybe try glazing him, go thin coats that way you can build up a hint of colour, 10/1 mix is about right (water/colour)

Your skin effects always look decent - but I presume the brown guy there isn't finished? He isn't up to your usual standard of skin shading and highlighting.

I like the last guy in particular.

Thanks!
No, the brown one isn't finished ... just trying around a bit... wanted to paint the riders similar to the beasts theyrthey're riding... like the rider on the ripper will have purple scales and crest... the terradon riders a going to be darker than the mounts skinwise... they'll have more or less red crest and maybe some green spots or so on the head/face... the rider of the grey (male) terradon will be brown skinned, too... he's gonna be the leader, so I guess it's okay if he's more colorful than the others...
The one in the picture is kind of a test... still needs shading highlights and stuff...

And this is why I need more star priest models... love it

Found via Google... guess it's on Pinterest... but certainly not only there... did I say I love it? Nuff respect to the one who made it!

I kinda see where you're heading with the brown, but honestly it does nothing for me...

Had to send both skink riders back to the pool of plast'ik'kl'eena... too many layers of paint already to start new... watched some tuts about glaceing, while writing application letters... think now I'm ready to try it on the ripperdactyl rider...
Also started painting the third rider... seems like it looks much better to layer the Skrag brown without applying a wash before... maybe I'll try the glaze technique on him, too...

Fits quite well, I think... brighter than I initially wanted, but nice...

The unit color is going to be green... so the inlays on the rocks and the protectors on the riders arms are going to be green on all of them... Also some of their gems will be green... the rest of the jewelry will be bright silver...
Here's one of the rocks for reference...
20170624_130137.jpg don't know if I will give the rocks themselves a special texture or simply leave them grey rocks...

Your skink priest looks fantastic! Well done! :vulcan:

Thanks a lot!
I hope you mean the green one... the guy with the torn out heart is sadly not mine... but I'm certainly doing something similar in the future...

WHAT? I thought you had somehow progressed from the skink priest at the top of the page to the one holding a heart Indiana-jones style. Serves me right for speed reading through the post :( Pardon me while I go crawl back into my lizard cave in embarrassment...

In any case, if you DO decide to use that priest as inspiration, don't make the under-jaw of the model black, like its wearing black lipstick.

I actually prefer your Skink priest to the one holding the heart. Too much going on there so it seems messy, even though it's very neat, and I'm not a fan of the colours. I personally think yours is far better and much nicer to look at, and I like it a lot more than the other.
