Blog Padre's Projects

Not sure when I can post more pictures. I haven't painted at all this week and probably won't do more until Monday. I have the first of my crusaders painted. They are a little smaller than I anticipated, so I'm probably going to use them as halflings. The legend of Rory Curthose and his Cutthroats is about to begin...

Some people are, yes... There are some threads floating around. Apparently resizing them smaller helps.

I'd say just upload to IMGUR and then embed here.

Quick and dirty paint job on a mini for an RPG campaign I'm playing in. Other than that, I've been working on my halfling crusaders (five done, five half done out of 36) and my Genestealer Cultists from Deathwatch: Overkill.

Creating a thread to post my WiP on a variety of projects, Lizardmen and otherwise. I normally aim for a decent tabletop standard as I don't have the patience for higher quality and most of my miniatures are intended to be played with and not sit on a shelf and look pretty.

What do you consider "decent tabletop standard"? Those tanks and seraphon look pretty excellent to me

Good question. For me, good tabletop quality involves two to three layers of paint on an area possibly followed by a wash. Competition quality is building up six to seven layers of paint in an area. It's possible to get good looking results using just of couple layers. For example, the tanks are simply a layer of black over a black spray primer. The treads and other metallic areas are Leadbelcher layered over the primer, then washed with Agrax Earthshade. Also, remember that the Seraphon are characters so I spent a little more time on them. Still, though, I think I only did a base, a layer or two, and a wash over most of them.

That seems, if I may, the "simple competition standard". I´ve heard of up to 20+ layers!
And that's why I don't do competition standard. I don't have the patience for that level of detail.
If it makes you feel any better, I don't have the patience or the skill to pull off that level of detail.

Also, I finished the 16 Genestealer Cult Neophyte Hybrids and started in on the Acolyte Hybrids from Deathwatch: Overkill. Probably my last painting for the week as I have other things I need to get done.

I like the genestealer cultists, I hope I can get some someday. Well done.

All the ones I've posted are from the Deathwatch: Overkill set. It's a pretty good way to get into the army. Of course, half the fun is kitbashing the rest...

I'm starting to prep a bit for 40k 8th. One new Tyranid Monstrous Creature and a repaint of another. Also, you can see some unpainted Hive Guard in the back. They've been sitting around in my closet for a while, but I figure it's time to get them table ready.
