I'm guessing it is some blu-tac or similar to mask around the mouth/teeth while painting the rest of the face?

Personally I wouldn't do anything at all for AoS... but to each their own.

Nice work on the Khorne models. I like the highlighting on the armour. What kind of basing are you going to do?

Stony bases... I think :p fantasy was dying and i think i spent more hours in the rulebook than what my models spent on the field. It was rules that could saboutage my imagination of war and hammer. AoS is simple, and is a good start to what i think they're doing; a remake. This is like alpha:p

I got my AOS starter set yesterday, started assembly last night (in between my terrain project)

I love the Khorne models and I like how your painting yours as Goretide, looking forward to more pics and I will hopefully have some of mine painted soon.

Very cool Khorne guy, I just love how thin your highlights on the banner are! I wish I could make them that thin. The bronze parts could maybe use something to make them pop, maybe a drybrush of gold? Anyway, awesome work, keep it up!

    Thanks!
And why cant you make layers that thin? Have you bought the new brush-set? Keep your brush moist(?) and the paint thin. Take your time and youll get it right!

Yes actually i can do more highligtning on them. But im painting on a schedule and have to be done in time;-)

Thanks for the tips, will totaly highlight the armour more when you mention it!

I have come a long way with improving my ability to paint thinner lines. First I learned about thinning my paints, then different ways to hold the brush and model and which way to paint in different cases. More recently, I learned to love Lahmian Medium (or any medium, I guess) and after that noticed the effect of drying retarder. Lastly, I bought a Winsor Newton Series 7 brush, which is lovely.

All of these help, but ultimately, my hands are too shaky. I don't think I can do much more, maybe taking some muscle relaxants excluded... I'm resting my hands against the table while holding the miniature and even holding my breath. However, your last advice is great. Taking my time actually helps a lot. Often times, I try very hard to get a nice, smooth, thin highlight and then screw it up at the last moment. It's super frustrating. This makes me want to hurry and results even bigger mistakes. I should keep in mind that I can always stop painting the highlight, stretch, maybe even paint something else for a while, and then come back to it.

Anyway, thanks for the support and sorry for the rant. I'm looking forward to see your next patch of models!

You can always paint basing after the layer if you didnt get it right. I mean thin the layer by painting the base over the layer paint you mispainted.

Sometimes i do so. Helps alot;-)
