I just got in to Warhammer and acquired my first few models for painting. Criticism and tips are definitely welcome as this is the first thing i have ever really painted.

First up are my Temple Guard, these are the first units I painted. I may need to get some better photographs, but thats another thing I dont do much of! I'm planning on retaking some of these when i get time.

They look brighter in these pics than they really are, again need to work on the picture taking a bit i think.

Next up was the Sunblood:

IDK what is going on with his eye in this picture, it looks red and white but isnt.

The 3rd model i started was the Stegadon, he's still a work in progress. I need to finish the Howdah/bow/skinks but the Stegadon part is basically done.

I took a break from the Stegadon and started in on some Ripperdactyls, these are also a WIP.

This image is overly bright again. Need to retake it.

A bit better representation of the color's but focus sucks a bit.

Very good start, you have been productive. For a first-timer, you are doing great, especially the Stegadon is excellent. I also really like the shield of your Gor-Rok/Oldblood! Basing is cool, too.

All in all I think you show real promise and can develope into a fantastic painter with practice! My only criticism is the Temple Guard looks a bit flat, and could use some (stronger) washes. But if those were your first models, then you have already learned a lot.

Good luck with your painting and keep them pictures coming!

Very good start and neat.

Couple of things you can do to improve, base, wash, highlight.

If you don't have any wash yet just but Agrax earthshade and apply it all over the base colour when dry reapply the base colour leaving the deapest recess, then add a spot of white to your base colour and apply on the highest parts, this is if you don't have alot of paints.

Also don't use to many colours when your starting out limit to 5ish this will help you get a consistent look.

But agsin very good for your first atempt.

Nice one! I really like the colors of your rippers! And as these are your first models you put some people (me) to shame... ;)

I can see where to highlight on the bigger models, like the stegadon, but i struggle a bit on the smaller ones to see where i should highlight. Thanks for the tips though, I will definitely keep working on it.

After a few painting sessions you will spot were to highlight it just sort of happens, watch some youtube vids or get a painting guide to browse, it soon comes.

AWESOME START
looking so good for a first time, I dont believe anyone told u anything XD. I also recommend you to buy (or apply more if you have alredy) some washes, mostly on the bone helmets of the temple guards, the white is way too bright.
Keep practising, you will make beautiful models. :D

Been away for a bit but i have still been painting when time permits. Between trying to paint my Silver Tower mini's and life my army has been coming along very very slowly, but its still coming!

Saurus knights with a swamp vibe. WIP.

Nice cold ones! I like the muddy natural look!
And the troglodon looks nice, too. Sure it's wip? I just can see the thumbnail right now, cause I'm looking via my windows phone, but it looks like there is very little left to do... ;)

They look really good and it looks like you have learnt quite a bit from your first post, your latest models show more detail.

Well done ;)

My nephew got a hold of it and broke the weapon/banner on the skink and the acid spit. So it is mostly done but i need to find some pieces to replace those and get them attached.

Thanks for the kind words though!

I also broke my spit! Well the troglodon´s spit. :p
Also love the swap bases! How have you made them?

I bought the bases from Secret Weapon Miniatures, think it is their blasted wasteland base. Then just followed this guide here. I have one that i colored way too heavily and had to mix up a TON of unneeded resin to get the right color for the rest.

I like how they turned out for sure, just having a debate with myself on how to paint the riders now.

This looks fantastic! Such a great model enhanced by a great paint job.

Your painting has really come a long, the orc is looking great :)

Jeez I wish I improved this quickly, I love the colours on the troglodon, and the orc looks fantastic

Well its over the course of a year. I feel like its been really slow! haha

Working on some Saurus warriors now but they're just batch painted so nothing too special, I'll post some WIP pics when i get a chance.
