As always, It's been a little while

Between getting back from work pretty late every day, and having about 50 skinks to build (they sure will be fun to paint

) I manage to sit down and start painting my raider!
I decided to start off with the base this time. This was mostly because I'm painting the model off-base for once, so I wanted the base to be done before hand so I can glue parts on as I finish them. Something else new is that I actually took pictures during the painting process! Hopefully some of the more experienced among you can point out were I'm being silly or using the wrong colours (being colour blind makes this kind of thing tricky and frustrating at times).
So, first off I decided to use a pretty big base for this one (It's round too....i'm sorry :S). The reason being this guy will probably end up as more of a display piece then actually used in my games. I started with grabbing one of my resin pieces to be the main block of the detail and built up green stuff around it. Little stones were then pushed into the green stuff to hopefully make them look a little more realistic than just having them glued on top.
After all that and dried I glued on sand and used a technique a GW guy taught me, were I painted all the sand with a shade paint to lock the sand in place before adding the under coat to the whole thing. I probably didnt really need to do this seeing as I was spary coating after the sand had been applied, but I had no idea how long it would be until then...so better safe than sorry.

You can probably spot the little footprint were the Cold One will stand

The soil is Mournfang for the base, Agrax and a drybrush of Zandri dust. The little rocks turned out be be tricky to paint. I had to dry brush to get the texture, all without getting it on the soil :L I've tried doing the rock first before, but that was just as tricky not getting paint on the rocks!
Did the logs next. I used a grey drybrush to simulate lichen cover.
I painted the vines with a drybrush then painted the bone around it.
Added all the little grass tufts and plants that I've used on all my bases so far. It might be a little over kill but I think it looks nice enough.
One final shot with the Cold One in place where he's going to be standing
