That being said, anyone remember the warhammer warband rules they put in white dwarf? Those were fun.

 

I might consider it, but for now I am good I think. Too many other projects already in the queue.

I do actually, I had a pdf version several years ago. We tried playing a few games, now that I look back on it the rules reminded me a bit of a Mordheim campaign, just set specifically for all the warhammer armies that were present at the time.

 

This is ridiculous! I'm only 13 pages in!

 

Dwarfs aren’t a lost army - Three Reasons:

1. Fyreslayers
2. Kharadron Overlords
3. Dispossessed + Ironweld Arsenal (Original Dwarfs)

I feel like I have to spend more time on Ebay collecting older models then I do getting stuff at GW, these days. I have far to many metal lizards. On another note, might be getting issue #206 at some point in the (Relatively) near future, since it seems to be in a white dwarf lot I was planning on acquiring either way. Have way to many old issues of white dwarf sitting on my shelf these days. Once I get this lot, I'll have more then 60 of the damned things, probably closer to 70. I'm of half a mind to start some sort of blog to peruse them with you all, though I feel like some of the oldest of the bunch (7, 8, and 9, probably any under 30 I'd imagine) aren't terribly relevant to Warhammer.

 

That is awesome

Imagine making a Lizardmen temple with a setup like that. Multiple levels of rooms, spawning pools, etc. Or even cutting the whole thing in half and having it open like a book.

Just you watch, now someone's going to try and build themselves a big temple pyramid, filled with all manner of engravings and architecture and what-have-you.

 

What about the new Longbeards, Hammerers, Ironbreakers and Irondrakes? They look very nice models. And not to mention the Gyrobomber. I’ve made one of those and it looks really nice, more ‘Dwarfy’ than the previous Gyrocopter.

What are the weaknesses of tomb kings as a faction in the lore meta

 

In the lore? Well, they're less disposable then, say the Vampire Counts. There ARE a lot of them, but they're still rather limited in number compared with the vampire counts, who can raise entire armies of new troops after a large conflict.

In terms of lore they are very much a niche army. I wouldn't say they are hated, but Vampires have always been more popular (which is the same thing you see outside of wargaming as well).

@TheSkeptic 's analysis is correct, Vampires have access to unlimited undead troops because they can raise anyone. Tomb Kings raise the souls of their past warriors. So while this makes TK undead superior to their Vampire counterparts (as seen by their ability to use bows and chariots), their number is ultimately finite.

In regards to meta, namely WFB meta, they are a very weak faction overall. Definitely in the bottom tier in terms of power level. Sadly it is Tomb Kings, Bretonnia and Beastmen bringing up the rear.

The death community, in my personal opinion at least, doesn't really dislike them, it's just that, in the days of Fantasy, they weren't really willing to hamstring themselves by building an army for a terrible army. As Nightbringer said, they were firmly bottom tier for almost the entirety of their run in Fantasy, and as such people who like the undead much preferred to run the Vampire Counts, who were firmly middle and top tier for most of their run, even if they preferred the aesthetics of the Tomb Kings. Only the people who REALLY liked the Tomb Kings aesthetic and fluff were willing to build up an army of them.
