I am sloppy. I am lazy. I have a laissez faire attitude in general.

That said, I want these warriors to look good so it’s time for action.

These fifty warriors are (black bases) from starter set, (white bases) partial box of warriors 1 (steg green bases), box of warriors 2 and I’ll probably get another box at some point for a larger sunclaw host.

The accompanying photos probably illustrate my inconsistency in painting models from different boxes spread over a long period. Scheme was; citadel black primed some, corax white spray some others. Then using citadel brushes stegadon scale green whole thing and sotek washed with coelia greenshade. My mate gave me a Windsor and newton brush which I really like using for details. Really, I’d like to strip them all and start again using the lizardmen citadel book, but I don’t have the will....

    Anyways....

My plan to get these finished. (Will post pics as I progress through the following list)
1 Abbadon Black all the shafts, clubs heads. (Spear tips are all done)
2 Then retributor for the gold on weapons, bracelets and adornments (with reikland and dry brush of necron)
3 kindle flame dry brush on the shields (which were painted mephiston and shaded carroburg)
4 once all the above complete I’ll go and touch up the scales/skin to try and get a closer match as I tend to be messy with details.
5 then it’s finish off teeth and claws with rakarth seraphim sepia (some have been done)
6 *holds breath*...then do the eyes.....
7 base them in sand and do rims still legion drab.

After this is done, I might do the tips of spears like the one in the pic alongside banner. One of the guys in my local GW shop did this for me. It’s kantor blue mixed with a little white scar and edge highlighted then ardcoat. Quite like the effect and it’s pretty easy...so I have no excuse!

8 ok...I should do the spear tips as per the above...

After all this is done I will come and ask for help if I may, as I cannot seem to do straight thin lines on bodies for stripes...

It’s all a learning curve, and as long as the palette the same it’s actually quite cool to see a progression in quality of painting (I’ve painted a tonne of clan rats and it’s cool to see the newer ones near my first attempts).

Ps....you’ll maybe also notice my alpha guardian lurking in one of the pics. He was tester model for a box of guards...not touching them til I finish these...I promise.

Ahh warriors the bane of any Seraphon army (apart from Knights)

I wouldn't worry about going back and redoing things as like you say your progression can be seen in the models.

I blasted through my warriors, I didn't bother doing eyes, bracelets etc and they still look good on the table top

They look good as they are, keep the pics coming ;)

Yeah, my philosophy is the more wounds a model has the longer you paint it. Infantry, myah, just slap it on and who cares...

However, this all fell flat on its face after I painted alpha guardian this weekend. Took me six hours! Looks nice...but...1 wound!

I need to rethink my philosophy.

No your right, I think I did my 40 warriors in around 10 hrs, slap it on and don't look back.

Here he is btw 95% done....yeah six hours and I still can’t do straight lines of metal paint....bah. He’ll look good on the table with his 14 brothers and sisters though. E91E3449-F064-4CBF-AC46-B99729F15BF4.jpeg

Gold next. A lot of gold (and im going to ignore the bling for now) just weapons.

Retributor which always seems to go claggy. Lahmium?

Just make sure it's mixed well, turn it upside down for about 1/2 hour and then stir it with the handle of an old brush, a drop of water or medium will help if it is still claggy.

Thanks mate. Also, my paints dry on my palette by the time I get to dip my brush in again. I use a little ceramic dish.

Just add a spot of water to the paint to give it more time, look at making a wet palette

Oh cheers mate. Straight lines I can’t do, feathers I can! My starpriest has matching ones. I’ll get a pic on here at some point when I get home.

Agreed. As soon as I made it (uh, how easy?) I could feel a big difference. I have found painting units quite stressful, so anything to alleviate that is a boost. Drybrushing was made for me!
I’m not at home at the moment as I’m looking after my dad at his house so don’t have my hobby lamp which makes a big difference too.
