Same here, but you can find ways to mitigate those problems and work around your limitations to a certain degree.
I was surprised to see how well it can work for myself, even though it is tedious.
according to my girlfriend my rather inaccurate paint-style works well on animals and such. Apparently it makes em look alive.

Heresy! Its everywhere!

Nice work on all those tzaanagors (tzanaagors? tzangors?), they are looking good. I especially like the blood on the dude's sword.

The last 4 tzaangor of my first full unit of tzaangor. Only took what, a month to paint a full unit? Onward to the elite tzaangor on discs now (and then the 2nd box to start this whole nonsense all over again)

Also can someone tell me where they get their aquarium plants for moddeling purposes? Or which brands? The local petstore didn't have any good ones, too big but in such a way that cutting them into smaller pieces wouldn't look good :(

I use deco plants from a dollar store... they have different stuff for different seasons... like Christmas decorations or garlands for summer... not all their stuff is good but you can get a bunch of stuff for a little money if you're lucky...

Tzaangor Enlightened, there discs are more annoying to paint that the actual tzaangors somehow... Nearly finished the first box. But somehow a lord of change came over and so I'm going to have to paint that too.. except that I'm nowhere near good enough for that yet, if only Tzeentch would help :P

One of the new terrain pieces using one of the new technical paints. Also could someone explain to me what about it is technical exactly? It feels kind of like a thicker variant of the shade paint but much more than that I can't really tell.

GW uses the term technical for everything that doesn't fit their other five categories (base, layer, dry, shade, glaze) and even those don't make a whole lot of sense...

so what's supposed to be so special about this one then? I mean it looks nice, but it's not that different from a shade or glaze as far as I can tell. It's not like blood for the blood-god that actually has a different structure and dries in such a way that it's more similar to the bloodstains.

A purple sun, which was a freaking pain to actually put together. THough I like how the painting has turned out. I like it better than the one in the official pictures, that one looks too neat and clean.

The Purple Spiky Ball of Awesome (how I call it). A great model although it is a pain to assemble. I like how the colors are flowing on yours. Did you use gloss varnish on it?

No a mat one. The camera on my Phone tends to make em look far more shiny then they actually are, even without flash. No idea why.

Seems like you had too much colour in the brush and applied it too "splotchy". Nevertheless, I like it. Were you following the yt instructions?

nah, I used what was in the booklet, it actually had some painting instructions for once. And I mistakenly took shade first instead of glaze which resulted in the messier bits.

A burning head. I'm not entirely pleased with how it looks but I can't quite tell what's wrong with it.
The mix of red and black into the sand on the base does give a somewhat neat effect I think.

Hard to tell from the picture but I think in one or two places the transition from yellow to red is a bit hard. If you manage to blend that a bit more together in those places it will look more dynamic.

Not bad though!
