Or at least as feasible as I can get it. We typically play 1000 - 1500 point games, and I'm trying to see if it's possible to do a Skink army without having to rely on a Slann. Even if I ate the points on the Skink Starseer, it wouldn't have the summoning capabilities the Slann provides. I'm pretty new to Age of Sigmar, so I don't know exactly what's good and what's not, but my main concern is dealing with a hyper-aggressive Khorne army that my brother plays. Anyways, here's the list I had in mind, though as an additional question; how do you guys think a 1000 point Shadowstrike list deal with a Khorne army? Allegiance: Seraphon Mortal Realm: Ulgu Leaders Engine of the Gods (240) - General - Trait: Master of Star Rituals Skink Starseer (80) - Spell: Meteoric Convocation - Artefact: Doppelganger Cloak Battleline 30 x Skinks (210) - Boltspitters and Star-bucklers 10 x Skinks (70) - Meteoric Javelins and Star-bucklers 10 x Skinks (70) - Meteoric Javelins and Star-bucklers Behemoths 1 x Stegadon (200) - Skystreak Bow 1 x Stegadon (200) - Skystreak Bow Other 6 x Kroxigors (300) - 2 Moon Hammers Battalions Thunderquake Starhost (120) Total: 1490 / 1500 Extra Command Points: 1 Allies: 0 / 300 Wounds: 108 Any help would be greatly appreciated! Still trying to wrap my head around everything and I'm sure I don't have a good understanding of what's optimal and realistic. Thanks everyone!
This is the most competitive Skink Themed list I have: 1000pt Shadowstrike Starhost Allegiance: Seraphon - Mortal Realm: Ulgu LEADERS: Skink Starpriest (80) - General - Command Trait : Master of Star Rituals - Artefact : Miasmatic Blade - Spell : Meteoric Convocation Skink Priest (80) - Cloak of Feathers - Artefact : Betrayer's Crown UNITS: 6 x Ripperdactyl Riders (280) 10 x Skinks (70) - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (70) - Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers 3 x Razordons (120) 3x Razordons (120) BATTALIONS: Shadowstrike Starhost (180) TOTAL: 1000/1000 EXTRA COMMAND POINTS: 1 WOUNDS: 64
That's the kind of thing I've been seeing for 1000 points, and I really like the idea of it, but I'm worried about how I would deal with going against alpha-striking melee armies. What do you do when dealing with Ironjaw/Khorne/FEC/etc. lists with such a non-melee (except the Rippers) army?
Normally I out drop them and murder them first. Otherwise turtle in a corner that is harder to reach and hope you're alive on your turn
I used a 1000pt list based off of the Shadowstrike battalion similar to LizardWizard's list with the exception of a Stegadon replacing one squad of the Razordon and the Skink Priest. It works well in my group with the sunfire throwers because a lot of the guys I play run hordes, but you could have success running it with the bow if you need to take down big targets or need a high damage weapon. Due to the hordes I go against, I also ran Stellar Tempest as my chosen spell as most units I'm up against number in excess of 20-30+, so 30 dice rolls dealing mortal wounds on a 5+ can help thin them a bit.
I like the idea on the Stegadon. my brother runs a group of 40 Bloodreavers, and the Sunfire throwers would do an amazing job winnowing them down before they can make their ungodly number of attacks.
Try throw Stellar Tempest on them too before you charge that Stegadon in, if it goes off, you should be able to thin that number quite significantly over the course of your turns. If you send your Ripperdactyls at his leader or key units that you need off the board, you can let your starpriest and Stegadon clean up a hoard whilst your skink go for objectives.
I'll definitely be prioritizing his Bloodsecrator and Slaughterpriests with the Ripperdactyls. Thanks for the advice, it helps a ton!
