I personally prefer having a core battleline of saurus infantry through Koatl's Claw, but yes, Seraphon are very much the kind of army faction that is most fun when you have big monsters included.

Thanks, Putzfrau. I read the errata, read lots of comments online, poured through books and then totally forgot about the second sentence in the errata! These rules are too complicated!

Then I dont really understand your comment. You seemed to imply my understanding of the FAQ was wrong because I was mixing keywords with battlefield roles, when keywords werent ever mentioned or relevant to the discussion.

On a side note it does seem like it is correct - People are agreeing on social media and honestwargamer confirmed it too. Overall a minor change for us tbh but something you certainly have to be aware of on certain battleplans.

I was not implying your answer was wrong, your confusion at the rule existing appeared to be due to a confusion in Roles and Keywords, which is an often made mistake by players. leaders and heroes are used interchangeably when list building that most people forget that they are different things.

as for the portion of my comment that you actually quoted, that was a response to Putz reiterating what I said and saying I was wrong, and so I was clarifying that they may have misread/misunderstood my comment.... which is the going theme for this whole conversation lol

    Edit*

additionally you mentioned "skink Hero" in your original post, which is what lead me to think you were confusing Hero with Leader

As a predominantly Warhammer Fantasy player, the phrase “that’s cute” is revolving around in my mind right now :p

Anyway, back to talking about rumours and stuff.

Something that appeared on Warhammer Community not long ago that I wanted to discuss with you all is this article here:
    https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/07/27/the-aelven-pantheon/
Most of it is the same old fare that GW have talked about loads of times before, but the passage about Malekith (Malerion to AoS players) highlights a particularly interesting piece of news:

This means that it looks like Malekith’s AoS Order Faction will be a race of shapeshifting Ulgu Shadow Daemons, rather than Elves, which I think is a pretty good idea given that Malekith himself is no longer fully an Elf but has mutated with his dragon Seraphon to become Malerion, and also that we already have three Elf factions plus the Elven contingent of Cities of Sigmar. Of course unfortunately given GW’s obsession with 40K we won’t see anything more about these for a long time (Lumineth aren’t scheduled to come out until September time despite the fact that GW could easily have released them earlier on in the year, and Sons of Behemat probably won’t be until sometime like October/November), but I’m still looking forward to seeing what GW will do with this faction idea.

I come from WHFB too, but i don't disagree.
Oldhammer: pick a scenario, place some random terrain, play.
AoS: pick a scenario, places objectives, places terrains, keep track / generate the terrains effects, choose the realm and related effects, play.

The rules for a AoS game are simpler, the setting time is longer

Which is why mysetup for games looks like, "pick a scenario, place some random terrain, play". I can't be bothered with terrain effects and realms.

True, but when AoS got its new edition they still released quite a lot of 40K stuff that year, yet now the reverse has come round again they’ve released very little of worth for AoS so far and won’t have time to release much decent stuff once the new edition hype has been satisfied.

Don’t you mean you disagree given that you’re putting forward an argument to what I’m saying? ;)
Oldhammer: pick a scenario, place some random terrain, play.
AoS: pick a scenario, places objectives, places terrains, keep track / generate the terrains effects, choose the realm and related effects, play.

In Fantasy there were also rules for generating terrain effects, though they weren’t compulsory. Are AoS terrain effects really compulsory? That sucks because as you say that’s extra bureaucracy.

However, @Angela said the rules were too complicated, so I put in a jibe about the Warhammer Fantasy Rules making those look easy :D

i was saying: "despite the fact that i come from oldhammer, i don't disagree with @Angela , which you were responding to"

but only in regard to the start the game. In that phase, AoS is more convoluted than WHFB

    pretty much

yes the way the rules are written they are compulsory for anything official, however what happens at your kitchen stays hilarious on TIK TOK, except in the US lol

Meh its all done relatively fast imo.

    1) Roll 2D6 - One decides if battleplan table A eller B, second dice decides which battleplan on the table.
    2) Place terrain. Roll 1D6 + 2 terrain dice per terrain piece (I got dice with the terrain effects from both tables) - The 1D6 decides if its terrain table A or B. The dice already rolled for what it will be on the table.
    3) Im looking for a D7 dice to randomize realms, but for now I let my opponent pick one card out of the Realm cards.

The thing that takes the longest is mapping out the objectives on the table and lining up the deployment line with dice.

nah more vampires, it's too sharp & vicious as well as badly maintained for CoS. we've had a whole bunch of rumors for them lately. Maybe we'l finally get an undeath faction opposed to nagash.

Probably not Vampires because Vampires serve Nagash. It especially sucks that it’s yet more gothic horror, because the likelihood of the superior undead faction (Tomb Kings) coming back gets less and less likely :(

On the corresponding FB post someone mentioned there's a couple bits of fluff mentioning a vampire that opposes Nagash and apparently mentioning his name near Nagash is enough to get blown into oblivion. Which gives some hope for an undeath faction that doesn't follow Nagash.
