Are there other units that have the same weird wording as the new Engine of the Gods, where they consider themselves mounts for a real unit that they don't share keywords or abilities with on their own warscroll?

The "Skink Priest" was placed on the Engine shortly after the Tome came out because people immediately realized they could upgrade the Stegadon's weapons on the EotG with artifacts and such. So the Skink Priest was added to be the hero while the EotG became the mount.

It actually hasn't changed at all.

It's absolutely not a Priest in function. The Skink Priest is our only Priest, mechanically.

Interesting thing - there is nothing in the faq saying that Scaly skin is not reducing mortal wounds. Do you think it this is intended?

it was addressed in the first faq after the seraphon battletome was released a year ago. i had a very unruly argument with someone about it since it literally gimped coalesed horribly because of the faq

What’s the different Single vs Unique? Can I bring 2 units of Single?

Yes, you can have multiple single (let's say slann) but only one of each unique (kroakk for example)

It seems it is intended. In the accompanying warcom article they state that some errata has been deleted because it's covered in the Core Rules. In this case, the core rules state that mortals wounds simply inflict damage on the target equal to the number of mortal wounds caused and scaly skin subtracts 1 from any damage that's inflicted. So if they specifically stated that errata was removed if it's covered in the rules, I'd say this change was intended

Another thing I just realized, the skink priest's staff was not errata'ed to be a prayer, so they can use it in addition to a generic prayer. Prepare for the internet to riot...

Another "buff" worth noting is that our summoning table didn't change. I was kind of expecting that to adjust for the points changes. But our summoning got better

I don´t think that is right. As mentioned in the artikle on Warhammer-community, :

    https://www.warhammer-community.com...n-the-new-edition-of-warhammer-age-of-sigmar/

the Skink Starpriest is a priest as well... : "Unlike other Priests, they don’t have an innate prayer on their warscroll, so their newly granted ability to dispel endless spells and chant the Core Book prayers is an incredible boost."

And the Starpriests keywords includes "Starpriest" .
So maybe ( and Im not sure about this) The Skink Starpriest is a Priest and a Wizard as well? At least I couldn´t find a rule wich says Wizards could not be Priests.
Or the artikle on Warhammer Comunity was incorrect about the Starpriest beeing a Priest.

    I.d.k.

they explicitly mentioned that in the article where they confused starpriest for priest that it benefits a lot from being able to use both. So I guess that's intended.

That article is a mess, they say "starpriest" but literally all abilities they mention are the priest his abilities.

Unfortunately that clarification was in designers commentary not the errata. Designers commentary don't change rules just clarify intent (generally). The wording for mortal wounds is the same in 3.0 as it was in 2.0. If there interaction hasn't changed and the wording hasn't changed, the result is still the same. And we know how GW wants that wording to be interpreted because they told us before.

I personally would play scaly skin the same until GW clarifies otherwise, considering nothing about the rule of anything involved has actually changed.

couldnt agree more honestly. it is really sad that scaly skin doesnt reduce MWs but at the same time i think that would be absurd on seraphon behemoths

meh, given that we are generally not all that sturdy it probably would be fine. Even with scaly skin working against MW's there's still plenty of sturdier stuff around and we'd still be nowhere near unkillable.

oh absolutely imho the most durable behemoth is vorgorath and skalok or archaon on his stupid daemon thing. then IF we had scaly skin for the reduction on MWs id say the dread would be the third tankiest only due to the hp(35 man its a lot). basti is easily 4th due to its 1+ but i do see the arguments about the orruk megaboss on mawkrusha and rogue idol. am i missing particularly tanky units that arnt daemons? because imho the great unclean one i dont count it gets nurgle rules which are so fucking powerful and that it is well so fucking tanky. BT well you know what youre getting into. changer of ways i tend to think you dont want those anywhere near people. and keeper of secrets imho is a wonderous hero killer. if im missing other absurdly hard to kill things please enlighten me because today im really running on like .0005 of a full tank in brain power today i apologise

Stonehorns? Some of the vampires on zombie dragon/terrorgheist setups who can get a wardsave and heal constantly?

Also, imho, even the bastiladon still isn't that great with scaly skin working against mortal wounds. Even with scaly skin, mortal wounds will still cause his save to degrade fairly quickly and our healing is still not great, especially as he's not a hero and thus can't use heroic recovery. Which means he has to rely on external sources to stay healthy and it's not like our healing is exactly great. Plus, the bastiladon has a fairly low wound count, that doesn't help either.

The only one we got who'd be truly impressive defensivly would be the dread, but that's by sheer virtue of his wound-count, which synergizes nicely with scaly skin if it'd work against mortal wounds. The rest would still not be in the top of most powerfull defensive behemoths (or offensive for that matter..)
