So this concludes the SEMIFINALs of the 27th Seasonal Short Story Contest. That's right, with a three-way tie, we are doing a tie-breaker second vote!
The winner of the tie-breaker is "A Skaven, A Dark Elf, and a Chaos Dwarf walk into the Jungle" by @Lizards of Renown. Congratulations to him and thank you to everyone who entered. Even the pieces that didn't make "the podium" were also excellent and professionally written. I bestows the Scalenex Cup to @Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl for "A Question of Profit" for killing most of the characters in a tragic fashion.
Congratulations to @Lizards of Renown for winning the contest and for being the first writer to enter a story featuring a Chaos Dwarf . Success demands innovation. Bold, brave and uncompromising innovation in the name of Hashut. **Cheers to everyone for being good sports and playing along with my jovial trolling. I shall now leave the story and fluff realm and return to my palace of memes... until the next time a Chaos Dwarf (or Settra) is mentioned in the title of a short story competition entry (easy way to garner a free vote!)
Thanks to everyone who read the stories and voted, especially the three of y'all who voted for my (overly long) story!
Nice win @Lizards of Renown ! Your story wasn't much my style (I prefer a more... "fluffier" style ), but I still gave one of my votes for it since it was constructed perfectly. And congrats for @Aginor for a strong first entry. Quick, everyone shoehorn mentions of Chaos Dwarfs and Tomb Kings into your stories' titles so you can farm votes from Nightbringer! I didn't get to vote for the 'semi-final' round since I was busy OD'ing on bleach fanfiction. But hopefully I can make up for it with some reviews.
I voted for your piece, it was lovely bittersweet like much of what you write. In fact I was pretty sure that you were the author, I almost posted it in my review.
Be careful what you wish for, because what if everyone who writes a entry does that to their titles for the next contest? Then you'd have to read every story to see which ones actually have chaos dwarfs or tomb kings in it
Well shucks! Thanks to everyone who voted for my story! I felt like I wrote outside of my comfort zone, so I’m glad people liked it. @Killer Angel your story was my favourite. Really nice writing.
Settra has not been in the title of any piece, but he has been a surprise guest star in at least one poem and one short story, in the past. Including my Christmas poem (cause he has a flying chariot that is vaguely similar to Santa's sleight), which you ignored completely.
Congratulations to @Lizards of Renown for taking the win! My votes went to 'Only in Death' and 'Common ground'. Thanks to the voter that provided me with at least one vote for my story. Grrr, Imrahil
Very well deserved! That was without a doubt , and one of the ones I voted for, alongside 'Only in Death' in the contest itself, and in the tiebreaker. @Lizards of Renown congrats on another win matey, I look forward to seeing what theme you choose! Finally, the grimdarkness of my stories has been recognised! While I'm admittedly a little disappointed my story only got one vote this time round, this makes it all worthwhile! One of which was one of mine (which didn't get that many votes )
Well, for the competition once i wrote a story involving Tomb Kings and featuring both Apophas and Usirian. But they were not mentioned in the title, so i suppose i was the one to blame!
Tomb Kings showed up three or four times at least. The mighty @NIGHTBRINGER asked for Settra the Imperishable specifically. He showed up twice that I am aware of.
It's all about the advertising (the title) . The largest and most successful companies from around the world spend many millions upon millions of dollars on advertising for a reason.
Any suggestions on changing our marketing for the Short Story contest @NIGHTBRINGER ? Based on your work on the profile flickers, you're kind of part of the PR Team for contest now...
