Oh, also I got one of my holiday gifts installed.
    20211226_205429.jpg
This is billed online as a nail polish rack for wall mount. I attached it to a piece of 1x6 with a couple of hinges so it swings out away from the shelf to allow access to the books behind.
What is it for? Well, I don't use nail polish, so not THAT. But... you know what is the same size as nail polish bottles?

    PAINT!!!

...and yes, before you ask, that shiny thing on the left side of the second pic is apparently my finger, highlighted by the camera flash... my grandfather and I have a knack for getting our hands in the pics on accident.

Spent yesterday putting together my Khorne blood bowl team. With only twelve models in the box, I converted an old beastman mini to add a third Khorngor and I found this old 1986 Citadel Khorne champion in a bits box so he becomes the 4th Khorngor (minus the sword). [IMG]

I also put these together upload_2021-12-27_21-56-32.png and chopped the weapons off the two on the left to make up additional linemen. Now I have a full team of 16 and possibly this guy is the coach with a different right arm upload_2021-12-27_22-1-0.jpeg

^o0^ Khorne cares not from where the blood flows, nor how, and Blood Bowl is kind of right up his alley, so I both approve of this conversion of the old metal flesh-hound guy, but I think I'll keep mine for an Oldhammer Chaos army that I may eventually make ;)

No worries, we will wait until you have revealed your project to ensure you cannot use it at the contest :angelic:

Joke aside, holding the Golden Serpent contest is very time-consuming, which is the main reason it has not been held in the last few years.
In addition, we are working on moving the forum to a new version of the forum software, and the idea is to hold a contest went that is completed. Unfortunately, that keeps getting pushed back, due to other work projects. Though I expect we will be able to complete it this year.

On a side note, the next Golden Serpent will contain some very good prizes, which is going high in the second-hand market. (Some of you old members, might guess what I am referring too)

I spent yesterday working on sword and board heavy dwarf infantry and contrast painting some blood reaverers.

I've had this guy sitting to be painted since 2011. One of the very first Citadel Finecast miniatures.

Now I know why I put him away and haven't worked on him til now. The resin is CRAP. Sword is wafer thin, very flimsy and part of it missing, Had to bulk it out with green stuff. Huge holes everywhere in the model. Part of his chest and a thigh is missing, lots of flash, club was bent and I had to apply the boiling water technique to straighten it. Don't know whether some bits are "fine detail" or stringy bits of resin that have stuck on. A great mini ruined by "Finecast".
I remember now why they were vilified for their "FINECAST" minis.

That is a crying shame. The model pictured looks amazing. I totally would have bought that and then been totally disappointed.

I’m honestly surprised with all the negative comments about Finecast, because the Finecast models I own (a Runesmith for my Dwarfs, an Ork Warboss with Attack Squig and Middle Earth Moria Goblin Commanders) have all been fine. Perhaps I’ve just been particularly lucky. In any case, to make sure I didn’t run out on that luck I made sure I bought a metal Doombull still hanging around one of my favourite hobby shops rather than ordering a Finecast one off the GW website. Don’t regret doing so, I’m really looking forward to putting that lad together

Actually, from what I hear the early Finecast minis were, well... let us just say it took GW a while to figure out how to cast stuff in resin properly, and while it has gotten BETTER, it still isn't perfect.

So I swung my one of my local hobby shops on the way home today.
$20 will buy you a decent amount of things for wargaming. 4+ jars of paint, a couple of decent brushes, basing supplies, bases, a character mini.... But something it does NOT normally buy...

Played my first Bloodbowl game this year between my Lizardmen and my opponent's Greenskins, whose value disparity since last season led me to getting over 900,000 gold in inducements for the game (6 additional team re-rolls, 2 additional apothecaries, and 3 assistant coaches). I lost the game with my entire team in the casualty box (fortunately only 2 of my 11-lizard starting roster have anything worse than "Back Next Game") and no touchdowns, but in exchange one of my Saurus blockers gave one of my opponent's Big 'Uns a memorable death even after apothecary re-roll. That same Saurus also won MVP in the post-game sequence (over a Skink who had greater success at breaking armour per block than all of my Saurus combined), earning him enough star player points to pick his first skill.

All in all, a pretty eventful and entertaining game. May have also been helped along with some rum & coke downrange too.

Their later stuff is better. This model was from 2011 when they had only just introduced the wonder of resin with much undeserved hype
