You are correct about unbreakable. The Hawks Talon is str 6 and like a bolt thrower with no -1 to hit when moving although no ignoring armour. That's decent and is fun to cut the target unit down a little. I seldom used it as I was marching so as to be able to get into CC and out of cannon etc shooting at me. It's really frustrating that he is so close to be something I'd like to take. It's like the Sisters, on the dragon they look cool but aren't good in the game due to so many laser guided cannons. Taken on an eagle they are awesome! I have them on an eagle but would have loved the dragon to be good. I love that model but don't own it.

 

These are the models I use for my Dogs of War for my cannons. Once I get my Galloper Guns painted these will be the extra ones.

From what I remember from the Wood Elf Arcane Journal, he's around 450 some points and is still a glass cannon. M9, S and T5, 5 attacks and wounds, WS8 with Frenzy, d3 +2 stomp attacks, Strikes first but only a 5+ ward for defense.

 

I'm feeling rather dumb right now, he's a monster so he'd get stomp attacks in 8th as well. Just looked at his profile for 8th and the price is still high and his not being able to join units,other than his hounds, is what kills his usefulness. Let me buy more of those and he would have the ability to break Ranks and have the ablative wounds he needs to survive getting into cc. Still can't believe I overlooked stomps.

 

Need to add a little more basing and seal but almost done with this block of wood elves.

Thank you! Old decals are fragile and I have to be really careful or they rip. Also solvaset is my friend here as it helps them stick and conform to the shield. Bad pic but just finished another wardancer, love this model so bought two for characters.

 

That moment when you realize just how much you were slacking when painting your Wood Elves. This isn't all of them and I've fixed some of these. I just need to remember that the journey to eat an elephant starts one bite at a time.
