The light/life dual combo slann is always sickening, especially with cupped hands on the light slann so both normally get the chance to ignore a miscast.
I still take the EotG quite often as a backup to my TG block. The EotG stays behind the TG block guarding against rear and flank attack while buffing or burning as appropriate. As my slann normally has life, the main vulnerability of the EotG ends up being the priest, so he often ends up with the 4+ ward talisman just to keep the model around longer.
