You know, they never did FaQ if cold blooded applies to casualties, so it’s still valid to have unbreakable saurus :D

    dam what an awful FAQ

It is irrelevant. Cold Blooded only affects -/+ bravery bonuses like spells, banners etc. It doesn't have any effect on Battleshock tests beside the Bravery characteristic.

I never worry about it. I always have enough cp to auto pass anyways.

meh, I'd still like to know what in the world is supposed to be the point of cold blooded though. I mean who cares if you can affect the bravery of skinks when they have a base bravery 5 & a save of 6 (or 5 with shields). They're going to be fleeing in droves regardless (ignoring spending CP for a moment). And that's ignoring the fact that negative modifiers are relativly rare anyway.

So really, why does it exist? What is is it supposed to be good for?

But it is not even how Battleshock tests work.

You roll 1 dice and add the amount of casualties to this.
The Bravery characteristic of the unit is then deducted in the sum from above = The remaining amount is the amount of models that flee.
It doesn't matter if your Bravery can't be modified, you are still deducing it in the dice roll + amount of casualties.

Honestly Bravery debuffs are kinda rare, especially with multiple factions either having Bravery 10 or flat out immune to Battleshock like Skaven/OBR etc.
I see it as a negative for Coalesced tbh. You have low Bravery and wont even have +1 for each 10 model in your unit.

yes, the sad irony is that our own rule damages us.

inspiring presence let’s me automatically pass it. Unless it’s been changed recently, You only remove models if you fail.

So the core rules state that casualties are a modifier, and cold blooded allows us to ignore modifiers

edit; I get it, I’m wrong like I am in most things

Sadly Coalesced still take battleshock :( The roll is modified, not the characteristic.

But you are reading the rules wrong.

In the text you pasted it says to roll a dice and add the number of models from the unit that have been slain.
The next part is irrelevant, since your Bravery characteristic isn't modified due to Cold Blooded.
In the next paragraf it says if the modified battleshock roll - This is the roll where you added number of slains models - Is greater than the unit's modified Bravery characteristic, the battleshock test has been failed.

So Cold Blooded has zero effect on the first roll you do, which is where you add dead models. You then compare the two numbers and if the first roll + dead models is higher than your Bravery = Models are gonna flee.

Edit: I guess I'm really bad at explaining, but take this as an example:
Your Saurus Warrior has a Bravery characteristic of 5.
You have 10 models remaining in the unit, so you effectively get +1 Bravery.
Your opponent has a banner that gives you -2 Bravery.
You lost 5 models in the fight.

You now roll a dice, let's say you rolled a 4.
You now add the 5 dead models to the 4 = 9.

You now take your Bravery characteristic of 5.
Under normal conditions you would add 1 for every 10 models remaining in the unit, and deduct 2 because of the opponents banner. However, Cold Blooded says you cant modify your Bravery, so it remains the base 5.

You now compare the 9 with the 5. Since the battleshock roll is higher than your Bravery characteristic, you have failed the battleshock test.
    9-5 = 4 models will flee.

Mate I mean no harm or have any ill intentions, and I apologize if it sounded harsh in any way. I have seen many people post about it, and so I just wanted to explain it, and I'm not the best at it.

I actually like Scaly Skin. So much of the actual scary stuff in the game is multi damage, i think we'll find it's more effective than not most of the time.

Sure witch aelves are single damage, but snakes aren't. I've always found multi damage models mess me up way faster/more than single damage models.

Really the only top end army this doesn't help out on is fyreslayers because of those stupid polearms.

Or, bring a Skink Wizard with Celestial Harmony.

If your primary source of pain is saurus charging, it would make sense to give your skink wizard the sages staff asterism, as well as balewind on the turn you plan to charge. That way you can hopefully get the 10+ bubble off and away you go chomping

Skink Starseer looks insane in a Saurus list. Extra chance for a CP. Either +1 to save or -1 rend on the enemy is pretty big. His warscroll spell is so strong I would probably consider a balewind so he can cast both that + Celestial Harmony.

Edit: I forgot he also got the Astromancer's Staff to make a unit 3D6 charge. Seems like a must-include in any Saurus list imo.
