GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

I openly admit I like SCE from an aesthetics point of view. I kinda like heavy armor and such stuff.

Basically SCE are for me like Bayern München in football or New England Patriots in american football. I like how they play and they are so great and offer so many options..... but they are OP and the poster boys that get everything.

So I'd like to play them....and don't want to play them. I like them but don't want to like them.
...it is really hard, especially now that they are our only allies we could pick.
But then it became a bit easier not to play them because now the balance became much better for many armies, including ours.

Anyway.
Those crossbow dudes with the birds are awesome models, and so are many other SCE. I fear the day @Mesandres will play them against either of my armies because they are damn strong, but it will still be a pleasure to see them on the table because the models are great (and he also painted them well).

Haha, Nope, I am really not joking. Keep in mind that I am completely unbiased because I started wargaming just a year ago so I didn't have time to develop a big grudge on anything beforehand. :D

ohh, how i envy you. people who have been in the hobby for 3+ years, are usually very biased and have some huge grudge on something.

Fair enough :)

Except me :angelic:

What's this?... an AoS model that I actually like? Okay, there have admittedly been a few like the Lord of Change and the Gaunt Summoner on disc, however I never bought either of those.

I may just have to purchase this one for my WoC forces!

Give her some wings and she could be a new Valkia model.

I've seen it all now - even @NIGHTBRINGER can't resist an AoS model...

Don't worry mate I'm just joking - I know you would just use it purely for Fantasy purposes. I have the same feeling for the Fyreslayer models for my Dwarfs... ;)

Many of the new models made for AoS are wonderful... but they are also a nightmare. Too much fragile for my tastes, so many small and thin parts that tend to break with just a gust of wind, huge flying models with just a flying stand easily breakable, and so on.

Even though AoS has a...questionable setting and a little bit to simplified rule system, you can't deny it has some beautiful miniatures, with some exceptions.

Even there the opinions vary.
I for example hate how the Stardrake looks, but I know people who say it is the best looking model from SCE.

Same for Kairos Fateweaver. People go crazy telling you how great it is but I don't like it much.

In general I prefer the look of most of the new stuff to most of the old stuff. Those bulky less detailed things just don't do it for me, with very few exceptions.

I do like the Stardrake but when you get a good look at it, it's backside is a little weird. The wings are way to exaggerated, the hind legs seem way too beefy and the tail has a awkward position.

The Lord of Change i think looks amazing, but i'm not a fan of Kairos. Kairos is descripted to be weak, frail and relatively small of stature, he's sorta like and old insane anorexia victim.

There have admittedly been a few, although I haven't yet bought one. Most of the AoS models I look at, my response is "I can see why people might like it, but it is not my style". The sculpts are typically quite nice, but just not my taste. This new model, the Lord of Change, the Guant summoner, the Maw Crusher and the giant wood elf beetle + rider are few of the exceptions which I would gladly add to my collection.

Perhaps as a cleverly disguised virus that plans to bring the whole AoS organism down! :troll:

Those are definitely the exceptions. God I hate the SCE.

Yea, but that is no different than saying that Kim Kardashian is the best scientist of all the Kardashians.

I agree with you about the Maw Krusha and the Lord of Change, but Alarielle? Really? She was only a minor character in Fantasy and now she's one of the stars! I'm still waiting for them to bring Ungrim Ironfist back to challenge that feeble elgi female! :oldman:

A spy from our camp into theirs. Don't worry, your secret is safe with me ;), although I thought it was the Skaven that spied on each other, not us lizards...

I'm only referring to the aesthetic quality of the sculpts and most definitely not the direction in which the fluff has gone. Alarielle and the beetle are in my opinion good looking models.

I am tainted by Tzeentch... guile, cunning, misdirection and deception are all worthy tools. Some good spy work aids in all those endeavors.

a little bit too simplified rule system

For us war gamers perhaps, but most people I know would find the rules already a bit complicated and a hard game for beginners to get into. It might seem simple for us, but a lot of people would find it very overwhelming. If you want to get new players in that aren't already into this sort of thing, I don't think you can complicate it much further

What about the Gryphhounds?

(Also, SCEs look much less Space Mariner if they get Swords, Bretonnian Helms, and any Shield that is not a Sigmar Poster ...any other kind of shield at all.)

So much better:

...even with just the head swap.

They are okay (I know everyone is bonkers over them). Decent sculpt but I would never consider buying one.

Better but I still hate SCE... now you have a Space Marine who stole a Bretonnian helm!

I disagree.
I like how Sylvaneth look. Not necessarily the Tree Revenants or Spite Revenants but the Branchwych, Dryads, Kurnoth Hunters and Treelords look cool.
