Btw, the way Mengel paints them is pretty similar to how I would paint them. Except that I don't highlight the purple with pink, I use blueish grey instead. Examples in my painting thread.
And of course he is a better painter than I am.

Yeah sure, if you don't like the models to begin with then a paintjob most likely won't save them either.

For me it helps though. Although I would still try how a head swap with a regular Skeleton looks like.

So, as much as AoS concerns: Sacrosanct Chamber is boring, Nighthaunt has a lot of great models, so do Skavens, but they are worthless ratmen, and Gobbos have less models, but they are all fancy and dandy.

For 40K, as always, I only really care for Wolves and Tau, but the Wolves one seems a bit overpriced for me. I also really liked the Tyranid bundle. I always liked Tyranids too, but not as much as the other two.

I would have thought that the Gloomspite Gitz would have included the coolest looking model in their range (in my magisterial but humble opinion ) in their holiday bundle...

And it is a cheaper model than the Mangler squigs!

I don't get why they didn't just go for a full squig or full troll box. It'd be a great starting box, while also being great for expanding an existing force. Instead you get some squigs, some trolls and some random foot grots cuz why not.

Also, I'm halfway dissapointed they didn't put the ogers in a battleforce box. They've got to be the singlemost uneventfull release in AoS. Plus since there's no start collecting box for the regular ogers it'd be a great way to ride whatever hype there is and get some people started on a combined force.

And can anyone tell what's actually in the chaos space marine battleforce? They appear to have 15 marines for some reason which can't be right.

meh, imho the SCE set is the only decent one. Might be a fairly boring faction but at least the box itself is decent and actually forms a coherent force. The others feel slapped together.

My main concern with them bringing out Stormcast and Nighthaunt boxes is that are they both going to get another Battletome next year, even though they both have a 2nd Edition one already? Skaven got an update and Gloomspite had their army release this year, so surely it would have made more sense to have one of the Order factions that got an update this year as the Order box and either Flesh Eater Courts, who got an update, or Ossiarch, who are having their army release this year, as the Death box?

But then the Seraphon box last year didn't lead to anything new this year, so I don't know.
