Well I know who is going to be a touch more insufferable than usual for a day or two. :p

No surprise really... the power of Hashut at work!

for a day or two. :p
I admire your optimism! ;)

Finally managed to get round to posting my thoughts on the recent preview (delayed by the '403 access denied' shenanigans the new server has caused).

Great to see Beastmen announced, and am pleased to see all the plastic, metal and resin models expected making a return, plus the Preyton, who of course will have rules in the Arcane Journal. I am a little miffed that they didn't update the Tuskgor Chariot into plastic to introduce options for a Razorgor Chariot, which is something we will still have to try and convert... but I have a couple of ideas on how to go about that. And it's great that we're getting a Transfer Sheet! Tomb Kings must be pissed now at being the only army not to have one :p

Ghorros as a returning character is curious, I'd have thought he wouldn't have been born yet... but that makes him a pretty old boy (for a Beastman at least) by the time period of 7th/8th. I like others have never seen that Centigor lord before... interesting that he might have originally been from Mordheim, and a good decision to return that model to the fold.

Regarding the Armies of Infamy... I'm utterly hoping that the Wild Herd list will bring back the Mixed Beast Herds from 6th (especially as Tomb Kings have access to mixed units of Skeleton Warriors and Archers in their Arcane Journal), and possibly allow Bestigors to be Open Order/Skirmish as per the 6th Edition rules for Morghur. The Minotaur list was always rumoured and it is a bit of a shame in a way to see it turn up given that it's perfectly possible to field a Minotaur-oriented list in the main army... but I have always liked the idea of playing a Tauren army in Warhammer. And I'm one of the few people who likes the plastic Minotaurs so I wouldn't say no to building an army of them :D. I don't know if a new Gorebull BSB model for use in that Army of Infamy might be on the cards in a second wave, or if GW will just say for us to convert one.

Oh, and I love the cover art of the Beastmen Arcane Journal! So much Beasty goodness! :joyful:

Didn't think they'd tease Wood Elves at the same time, but good news for those Wood Elf players who were waiting like me as a Beast fan (@NIGHTBRINGER I hope everything you're looking for for @Mrs. NIGHTBRINGER's army is there :)). Just like Centigors and the plastic Herdstone for the Beastmen (which I heard is returning from the podcast), I notice Warhawk Riders and Tree Kin are missing from the initial lineup, and of course they haven't shown off the pictures of the 3rd Edition Wood Elf Animal Handlers that they're bringing back (which I think is a really nice touch and fitting for the army), so I wonder if both Beasty Boys and Woodies are in for a second wave of release previews later on. Like Ghorros, I'd have thought Araloth wouldn't have been around at this time given that he's quite a young (and formerly foolish) Elf, but I can understand their desire to keep the plastic model in use (though he would have made a nice generic Highborn model like Belegar was repurposed to be a standard Dwarf King on Oath Stone).

And Cathay! I'd never have thought they'd tease Cathay right now... I was expecting them to tease it much later, but it's great news that they decided to give Old World so many reveals! I do find it rather amusing to have seen AOS very much take a back seat in that preview, with TOW leading the way alongside 40K.

Fantastic to see that Cathay will be an entirely plastic army rather than filled with Forge World Resin too... this bodes well for other future faction releases for TOW, and shows that GW are now willing to spend more money on the game. I'm not a huge fan of the models overall given Oriental history isn't my thing, but I do like the Lord Shen-style Dragon cannons and rocket launchers.

The battalion box is pretty sweet; @Mrs. NIGHTBRINGER can make excellent use of all the units included. The two "new" plastic kits are exactly what she was looking for and she is always in need of more Glade Guard. Thankfully there are no dryads in the box set (I'm assuming they are relegated to AoS now)... she has enough of those and never fields them anyways.

Also missing are the Wardancers and Waywatchers.

Next up... the Vampire Coast. ;)

Soulblight boys are in pre-order. *sarcastic yay*

...And then I look again at the picture of the Underworld's release...

...
That one on the right with the knight and the 90's metal-rock hair... why do I look at her and just see a bobblehead? I can't tell if its the sculpting or just an unfortunate camera angle, or if it's in my head, but I can't look at her and not see a bobblehead. It might be the spikey shoulders, but her head looks too wide for the body!

The face sculpt from that angle does bring retro baby dolls and such to mind, so that could be it.

Big News!!! The Wood Elves are next!!

Sorry @Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl , but the Beastmen must step aside for the time being.

Well I must say that is a little disappointing... GW outright said that Beastmen would be next in an earlier post... but maybe there are delays with reboxing their models, or sprucing up the returning Herdstone kit (which needed some AoS-specific imagery removed from it).

But at least you can get what you need for @Mrs. NIGHTBRINGER's army, and I certainly don't dislike the Wood Elves at all. Not to mention that it looks as though they're releasing Wood Elves all in one wave, so it'll still only be a matter of time before the Wild Herds emerge from the darkest and wildest of places to bring bestial revenge upon all the 'civilised' races of the Warhammer World!

Never seen this unit before:

seems like a dogwalking service gone out of hand :p

Grrr, !mrahil

Those are the Beast Keepers, animal-handler units dating all the way back to Warhammer Fantasy 3rd Edition from 1987. It's great to see that they've chosen to bring such a classic unit back, and adds something new and original to the Wood Elf roster to help differentiate them further from their High and Dark counterparts.

For sure a fun looking unit (units?) to see. Don't know if they contribute something to the battlefield.
