Blog Here's my Lizardmen army so far (Star Wars Bounty Hunters)

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (Forest Finished)

Hmmm.... Seems like I have been slacking on updatees lately...

Well i did manage to finish a couple more sections on the River,
and I repainted a couple of the toy dinos I was going to use for Stegs,
thieir old paint job would never dry properrly and it just stayed tacky.
also i started work on the the Very Last three Cold One Calvary guys.

Neither of these projects is realy finished, but let me know if you guys want to see some WIPs. :D

Ps. I found a Lot of nice drift wood on the beach recently... ;)

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (Continuing projects)

oooh pretty trees :)

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (Continuing projects)

Yeah, definitely post WIPs. I'd be keen to see what you're doing with the toy dinosaurs. After being on holiday for awhile, I'm finally getting back into it, and one thing I'm going to have a go at it making another steg from a toy.

Also, more rivers please :D

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (Continuing projects)

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (Some WIP's)

Opps Sory old Mosey, I forgot to take pics of the Toy Dinos as well, Hopefully I'll have them up tonight.

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (Some WIP's)

Been looking through this blog (at least the last few pages). Your terrain is solid -- I would be more than happy to play on a table filled with the stuff. The forest is excellent, and I love the river too.

I have some mixed feelings about the models. I really like your treatment of metallics. You have a patina effect that is deep and rich, and that is perfect for emulating old metal. I look at the shoulder guards on the saurus cav pic, and it's exactly as it should be.

The issue I see is that you aren't achieving the same depth of color on other parts of the models, and so they can end up looking a bit flat by comparison. I think you need more contrast. If you put the same level of depth into the non-metallic areas, you would end up with some special stuff.

(Mega WIP)
(Basecoat to basing)

100_1666.jpg
I started base coating the belly in a straight orange over the primer, since that was one of the harder places to reach.
100_1668.jpg
Then I did the green upper half, The shield I had done earlier, and is mostly done already.
100_1669.jpg
Then I want ahead and bid a base of blue on my Saurus, oh also I did the weapon.
100_1671.jpg
Here I am painting up the leather bits, maybe base coating some brown on the metal bits.
100_1672.jpg
a bit more leather work , and I had been highlighting the Saurus's scales for the last couple of pics.
100_1673.jpg
Got a nice coat of bone and off white on all the spikes, claws and teeth.
100_1674.jpg
started doing some washes, a few more layers on the claws and teeth .
100_1675.jpg
even more washes and highlights..
100_1676.jpg
added the silver bits, more washes, basicly finished about now.
100_1677.jpg
added a layer of green dry brushing over the already brown washed basing
100_1678.jpg
final highlight of green and added some patches of flock.
100_1683.jpg
ok heres the final product,
100_1684.jpg
any questions?

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (Mega Cold One WIP's)

I suppose I could add some descriptions to the steps if you guys want.

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (Mega Cold One WIP's)

looking sharp. I really like the river pictures.

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (Mega Cold One WIP's)

Yeah, descriptions wouldn't go astray. Maybe make the order start to finish, as well :P I got confused at first.

You use an airbrush, right? Which one, I've forgotten.
Edit: Just re-read a post saying you don't use an airbrush.

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (Mega Cold One WIP's)

Ok updated the origional post as requested old mosey. :)
(see previous page)*

Ps. I wish I had an airbrush. :depressed:

Pss. it's straight Thalka green (GW's green wash) Sometimes I thin it, but usually I just try and keep it from pooling too bad with my brush.

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (Mega Cold One WIP's)

What wash are you using for the green? Just the regular GW green one? Are you thinning it at all before you apply it? It looks much better than the ones i've been able to make.

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (Mega Cold One WIP's)

WellI started working on my last cold one, I post som pics of that one as well as the rest whem im done. :)

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (Mega Cold One WIP's)

The more closely I look at these guys, the more I like them. The green wash is subtle but effective. I think that a bit of dark brown wash would serve you well around the base of the white spikes/horns on the cold ones just to define them a bit more.

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (Mega Cold One WIP's)

My eyes are open to the holy spectacles of our wonderful planet!
When will you upload pictures of steggy fillers?
Me want dinoooooooos.
Thanks and/or sorry in advance!

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (Mega Cold One WIP's)

@lizardmen98
Ohhh yea I forgot I hadn't posted those yet....
Still slowly working on my last cold one.
He's about 1/2 finished.
- as usual feel free to ask an question
and thanks for checking out my blog.

@Dyvim Tvar
I did add some brown wash around the spikes/spines/claws,
but not as much as some of my other cold ones.
(I have improved him a bit since, to make him more like the other ones)

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (Last Cold One)

Yep it's the very last one...

Hmmm... What to work on next...
I think I have, Skinks, Saurus, and Temple Guard left.

Re: Here's my Lizardmen army so far. (The Last Cold One)

Nice work mate. Good simple weapon convert, same as the great weapon guy on the last page (which I only just noticed). As always, nice vibrant green jungle base.
Can we get a photo of the unit all lined up?
