Malign Portents

Hot damn I missed half a dozen stories again. Reading them now.

Wow, "The Price of Apotheosis" may be about SCE (not my favourite stories) but man, it is grimdark.

Ok, I read the other ones as well, and I continue to like how they show all kinds of armies and what they do during that crisis. In the last few stories it was Kharadron Overlords, Ogors, Tzeentch dudes, Elves and some Humans. No Lizardmen yet, unfortunately, but they show nicely how even the mighty armies struggle against the attacks of Death.
And the stories are written quite nicely, too, with a high language quality.

It seems that we'll have almost all order faction, but not Seraphon. I don't know if we'll have something for us :/

Slaan wouldn't bother their arses getting outta bed for these magic-light mups running around.. I say if and when Serpahon get a look in, it'll be after the Malign Portents stuff plays out, AoS 2 kicks off and magic is going wild. Then they might step in and be like "lads, wtf?"

Either that or GW don't know what to do with Seraphon and they'll get ditched.

I'm afraid of the second possibility.

Me too. They are very notably absent in those stories.

On the other hand: they pretty regularly have a place in the lore and GW press. Battletomes of other armies reference them, rather new painting videos talk about them, they receive FAQs (that do not nerf them to the ground), and so on.

Compared with other armies like Brayherd, Troggoths, Warherd, Aleguzzlers, Lion dudes and so on I'd say they are still kinda high profile.

But then so we’re Tomb Kings before AoS came around. They were one of the first factions to get an 8th Edition army book.

Yeah, but which ones?
There is hardly any faction nobody likes.

But then there were no factions nobody likes in Fantasy too. Bretonnians and TK have quite a large fan base, and Beastmen, while not that popular, still have their fans.

I’m guessing GW will be the ones to judge who dies and who lives, which means that unfortunately Sylvaneth probably won’t be retconned anytime soon as GW seem to love them :argh:

I still don't quite get your hate for them. I like the Tree Lords and Dryads, and Alarielle as well as the Kurnoth Hunters are awesome models, IMO among the coolest ones in AoS.

Anyway: They will probably judge by IP laws and sales.

I doubt it. They will just get strung along with few/no updates.

Fear not!

Then again, some of us are hopeful for the second possibility. Not many, but some... okay.... maybe just me. Either way, I don't see it happening anytime soon. Although, GW is admittedly a bit of a wild card.

From a story telling perspective, Lizardmen are a bit more difficult to deal with. They are by nature very different from the other races. I can't really picture a Slann having a casual conversation with a warm blood.

Yup... second in fact...

We just need to hope that if any armies get kicked out, it’ll be the awful ones we don’t care about.
SCE! ..... unfortunately they are the least likely to get the axe.

Did anyone else read the short story today? I'm getting a Tomb Kings vibe from it, specifically, Settra the Imperishable. I'm not convinced they are as dead as people are claiming.
