All 40 Pikemen are now painted. Basing has been initiated.

 

Huh. I never posted the full pikemen unit?

Here y'all go. As well as the spearmen unit I put the last 2 models on a day or two ago.

Next up is the remainder of what's on my painting desk before moving on to commission projects which I will also show in this thread.

@NIGHTBRINGER , you may change that if you want me to paint more necrons

 

@Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl is the Necron guy. I sold mine off some time ago.

I have not. I have zero interest in Necrons and by extension 40k.

I liked the concept of the enslaved Necron race on the rulership of the mighty C'tan survivors. I don't care for this C'tan shard business.

 

I rarely post actual work in progress shots, but I'm having quite a bit of fun with the first orcs for my personal collection. First step has been the Killaboss on Great Gnashtoof, also known as a naked mole rat.

I painted plenty of kruelboys models before, but they have always been heavily converted for my warriors of Nurgle army. As such this has been a refreshing change of pace.

Next is going to be metallics, then touch ups, then details, then final touch ups and basing. Because there is so little skin in relation to all the other parts, particular green skin of my orcs is going to be part of final details and second to last. I'm going to go with a very subdued camo color for the green skin.

 

First orc for the Waaagh. He's a lucky git.

I really liked the details on this model. Though I don't think I'm going to enjoy picking out stitching on every infantry model.

The decomposing tongue on the skareshield and the still-raw brand mark on the Gnashtoof were quite fun to work on.

 

I very much dislike painting tassels now.

 

No photo at the moment, but I have been working on things.

I've been building the remnants of a dominion set. it was partial to begin with, so I don't know if i'll get a full squad of 10 gutrippas out of it. Good news is that my 32mm bases order has arrived, so i can base them for painting now.

2 more orc-ogres are on the painting table, along with a murknob with belcha banna.

Another murknob has been converted into a killaboss, by using an extra gutrippa arm and a greataxe from the orruk brutes set.
I've got to greenstuff around the pinned joint of the axe head though, so he still needs a bit more time before painting.

I've uncovered another killaboss on great gnashtoof on sprue, and am undecided on how to convert him. any thoughts?

I'm also going to be making some orc-ogre conversions with dual hand weapons. I'm trying to use up the orc bits i have left before buying anything else.
I've got a swampcalla in parts on my desk as well. The pot-grot looks like it will be fun to paint. I found an extra pot-grot in parts, so may use him for something else. Not sure what though.

Other than building the infantry hordes, what should I add?

While I am making progress on commissions, I also took the time to paint 10 skeleton warriors with spears. Should I do heraldry on the shields?

That would make them look a bit more interesting.
