I'm excited to see the new Lore of Undeath!

I suppose that with the addition of new spells, our Focus of Mystery builds just got a little more potent. ;)

Re: Nagash x Mazdamundi (WhiteDwarf SPOILER ALERT)

Man, Nagash is gonna be a beast.

Summon 300 pts of mooks, 195 pts of Characters or 600 pts of Monsters/Artillery, or 450 pts of Cavalry/Monstrous Cavalry/Chariots
    ... and that's just baseline.

No counters (30 pts per counter for him, I assume), no boosts (also tripled?).

    Wow.

That turbo-powered Spirit Leech looks very nice too (2d6+2-Ld wounds).

I wonder if WD Slanns will know the Signature? Seems that they should.

    That would be wicked!

I like the thought of my Saurus being backed up by summomables -- I hate having to support them with listbound units.

I wonder if our Vassals will affect the range of the 'Incantation' type? NECROGLODON! o_o

No warmbloods in this army!!! :D

On the flipside, how cool would it be if summoned units were treated as 'Remains In Play' (R.I.P.!! xD) spells, and the Cube could vacuum them all up?

    Heh heh heh...

*dons his Stegadon Helm of Wishful Thinking*

nope, its not a BRB Lore :) by that logic he would also know the signature for all special lores.

Haha! :D "So nagash.....how many 1's are left in this dice.....do you feel lucky....PUNK?!"

Re: Nagash x Mazdamundi (WhiteDwarf SPOILER ALERT)

Well, not necessarily - the special lores are special.

The Lore of Undeath is available to everyone, so it functions much like a BRB lore - I wonder if they expand the WD rule (or write in, 'This is a BRB Lore, as everyone can use it')?

    Time will tell!

Re: Nagash x Mazdamundi (WhiteDwarf SPOILER ALERT)

Things I wish Mazdamundi would command:

    1. "Prepare the spaceport; the Old Ones arrive next week."

    2. "That's the last straw, we're invading Naggaroth."

    3. "That's the last straw, I command Naggaroth to sink into the ocean."

    4. "The stupor of Chaos has affected the Slann long enough. Time for a coffee run."

This does seem like a testing ground for 9th edition, doesn't it? Everyone having access to the Undead seems to set up ally rules, plus the aforementioend combined Monster/Character profile.
Just curious, can anyone think of a drawback to the combined profile?

    Ward saves.

In particular, the Tzeentch 3+ ward where you reroll 1's.

Re: Nagash x Mazdamundi (WhiteDwarf SPOILER ALERT)

The combining of Tomb Kings and Vampire Counts into a single army smells heavily like a 9th edition plant, yes.

There are other obvious alliances that are almost certain to happen: Daemons of Chaos + Warriors of Chaos, Brettonia + Empire, etc.

So I think the real question is: which army(ies) will Lizardmen ally with, in the end?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA...Plop!

Laughed my head off at this one!

Allies for the Lizardmen could be High Elves or VC since they already have footholds on Lustria. Not sure about Dark Elves. Would they help or fight Chaos?

Re: Nagash x Mazdamundi (WhiteDwarf SPOILER ALERT)

I dont think that Dark elves are on the table...too much bad blood, too much border tension....it would be a desperate one.

    but speaking of blood:
I also think that a Vampire could choose to side with the Lizardmen, for a couple of reasons:

    1. Vampires are immortals beings that seek knowledge, the knowledge of the Slann is a missing piece.
    2. Not all vampires are "evil" per se.
    3. A lot of vampires seek seclusion from humans, and some their own kind.
    4. Its fairly easy to avoid the sun in the jungle,
    5. Cold-blood is probably not their thing, so not a prey opportunity, but hey! good thing Lustria is under constant raids
of warmbloods! ....lizzies dont like, vamps do! = works out!
    6. Lizzies are empowered by the Sun, Vamps are Empowered by the night.. thats some nice synergy.

buuut all of the above might just be me arguing my own case, as I just ordered my first VC models and is starting an army :D

im even trying to figure out how to make lizard-ghouls (Scalenex, if you see this *Brofist* for your idea).

I think it would look like this

    Likely allies

High Elves <---- The old ones chosen
Wood Elves <---- close to the above, they also like forests
Tomb Kings <--- The freaking first humans to serve the old old ones?

    Circumstantial allies
    Brets
    Empire
    Dwarfs
    Vampire Counts
= "we have some common interests, and yours does not interfere with out plans. Neither does your existence.

    Rare allies
    Ogres
    Orcs and Gobs
= I guess some worthless gold and a need for extra manpower could facilitate this alliance?

    Not in a thousand years

    Skaven
    Dark Elves
= Both of these has defiled Lustria so many times that it would take a "Together or we all die" situation to bring them together. Lizards even have an entire religion based on hating skaven.

    Not in a million years
    Chaos: Daemons, Warriors, Beasts, Dwarves

= They are the ENEMY..by definition the most foul in the world according to the Lizardmen. they are THE problem
    In the grand plan.

Re: Nagash x Mazdamundi (WhiteDwarf SPOILER ALERT)

An important distinction here is between a genuine alliance, and a temporary one based on a common goal. The grand plan being everything, I can see them cooperating with, or more likely manipulating, pretty much any other army on a temporary basis to further their goals, but neither would they remain faithful to such an alliance once it ceased to be relevant to the great plan.
On that basis, I almost feel ogres or OnG are the most likely allies, since their mercenary nature makes them easiest to manipulate into doing what the slann want. Elves and dwarves, by contrast, are independant, proud, and honourable. You've got very little chance of persuading them to do anything dishonourable, or against their own interests, and while they may have a part in the grand plan, they haven't been cooperating with it.

Also, there's a big difference between the lizardmen, who are largely disinterested in the younger races as long as they don't walk into lustria and walk off with pieces of the plan, and Mazdamundi, who has recently proclaimed them to be collectively responsible for ruining the grand plan by living in the wrong places. If Mazdamundi has become the dominant force among lizardmen, wood elves are suddenly right down there with skaven in the 'should not exist' category, an error in the plan to be removed. So are any dwarves living in the wrong set of mountains, and for that matter OnG and ogres unless someone has a plaque giving them a place in the plan. I'd actually expect him to regard Nagash's horde as a great opportunity to get rid of some of the more disobedient elements of the younger races, and I certainly don't see him expending significant resources opposing them. If anything, he might end up helping them.

So----Mazdamundi is pretty much a fat Hitler riding a dinosaur, and his command will be "Let them fight" Godzilla style?

...not sure how I feel about that :jawdrop:
