As for the fins, you've probably got quite a few choices, though i'd be worried about maybe too much red if you painted the fins red. I also feel that orange wouldn't stand out enough, especially seeing that poisonous animals tend to have very striking and obvious colours to fend off predators.

I'd be inclined to try something like a very pale, but bright yellow with red flaring up from the back of the beast. Something similar to tiger stripes?

Well, the painting sceme looks good! for the fins of the Amaxodon i think blue would do great! Maybe take a look at my painting log (link in the signature) and watch the head of my carnosaur! I've used also blue for the flesh of his teeth and i have used almost the same colors!

Else i should use a color that stands out!

Because of the nice painting of the troglodon's head, i would almost say: Make a conversion of a troglodon by making the head coming out of the water, and maybe if you have a fin that is above the water! And put the skink on it on a nice way! Nice for a unitfiller of skinks or maybe for use as a troglodon!
 
Hi guys, thank you for the suggestions, I will try a few out, a friend of mine also suggested lilac? I've been a touch busy to paint, and I think I may put a lot of effort into qupacko's painting contest, so that means more skink painting for the time being.
I am hoping to return to "normal painting" in a fortnight :p

I appreciate the comments, I do think there is an improvement, but most of it comes from feed back and constantly trying new things which only come from comments and suggestions which is why I enjoy this forum.

Zwuppie, I will take your suggestion of the swimming Amaxodon to make aDangerous Crossing terrain piece where troops can try and cross but if they fail an Initiative test a they suffer D6 strength 6 hits from a Amaxodon? You will have to wait to wait til I buy a new carnosaur kit for the spare fins!
