    Probably pretty low considering the ever present threat of destruction by the forces of Chaos!

    So anyway......about this oasis? Are you wood turning (and carving) palm tree trunks?

    At least until they would be old enough for you to recruit them to the cause! ;)

    Nope. I've never done wood turning. I've purchased some palm trees.

    It's made of two layers. The bottom layer is acrylic and the top layer is particle board. I cut the rough shape using my scroll saw and then shaped the contours using my dremel, sanding mop, sanding drum and sanding blocks.

    How are you going to keep the acrylic clear spray paint when you go to paint it?

    The acrylic will be painted over, that was always the intention. I was just experimenting using acrylic instead of wood as the bottom layer, but it will be treated as if it were any other medium.

    Huh. I saw the green acrylic and figured you intended to incorporate both the color and reflectance into the eventual water effect.

    Good guess but wrong I suppose.

    The acrylic itself is not green/blue all the way through, it is clear with a thin coat of colour. The risk of that is if the underside is scratched, it will show through.

    @NIGHTBRINGER

    I actually missed the cottage!

    Your attention to detail is second to none and defo worth the wait (18months?)

    How did you do the wood cuttings they look so real.

    Excellent job and I'm going to try and match you when I start my undead board.

    Quite some time, but it was pretty much just left on the shelf for most of that time.

    The wood cuttings were made from twigs and branches that I found in the backyard. First I cut them down to size with my Scrollsaw and then I took the bigger ones and split them into 4 sections. Lastly, I treated them with some Linseed oil to bring out their colour and highlight their grains.

    Thank you!

    Your stuff is always excellent, I look forward to seeing it unfold.
