Great work so far. Love the proper use of cork on the skinks bases for starters - much better than some of the other attempts I have seen recently of just smacking it on and calling it rock.

The warriors look fantastic, great details. Looking forward to seeing them painted.
 
I love those Saurus, what base model(s) did you use to achieve that? Amazing work so far, can't wait to see the rest.

Well, nothing spectacular, actually - I just have enough of spare time, plus some dedication and perfectionism :) seriously though, I just try to do the best I can possibly achieve.

The actual "basic" miniature were the Gors from the former Beastmen model range.
 
Thanks! The actual basic idea did not include snakes before I started to work on the base itself. Then I though that it would be a nice small touch, which also refers to eastern culture.

It isn't a former range, you can still get them.

Thanks! Well the actual idea behind kamehame-guy was Ryu from the Street Fighter series :) but I guess both can count as an inspiration source.

My brother has a few sets of old beastman Gors, I never would have envisioned a conversion as awesome as this!

I actually just needed someone a bit more "pumped" than the original saurus, and I thought that Gors were the best choice with very fine detailing and neat and similar anathomy.

Alas, here are 5 more sauri for the saurus box. I've done them a few days ago, but the preparation for the upcoming exams intervened. Anyways, here they are:

They still require some finishing touches, but all in all they can be considered as "ready to be painted".
Now I'm gonna convert 12 sauri in a row with 2 fillers for 2 models - that will bring my brick to 25 souls in the unit, which is almost enough to play a starting game of 750 points (after that I just need to convert an Old-blood).
An in the end, now this box has the starting model count of 10 and looks like this:

I love the guy on the fourth picture... the guy on the left... again the chilled expression of an experienced warrior. :cool:Would make a great Old blood, too.
It's amazing how much effort you put into a core/battleline United... am really looking forward to seeing what you do with lords and heroes!;):cool:
 
These are some of the best conversions I hve ever seen. Incredibly cool, absolutely brilliant.

I think I missed it but how long does it take to assemble a single one of those saurus warriors?

I can only imagine how long it would take to paint :artist:

More to come ;) I actually abandoned the idea of using cork, because I felt a trey (is that what you call it - the "large base" thing for the entire unit?) with a unit on such bases would be awkward to move.

Thank you! Sadly though, I have exams coming during the next two weeks, so there will be no big updates during this time period. But I'll come back with a full unit of these ;)

Well, the very first one (which can be considered as the concept-miniature for the rest of unit), who is now the champion, took me about 5 years to complete, counting from the moment I took a modelling knife in hand and the moment the last bit of green stuff on him dried. The next 4 took about a month or two. The latest 5 - about two weeks. Roughly speaking, when I put all my lazyness aside, it is possible for me to make 5 in a row in a week.
 
That's some seriously good modelling and painting there- for some reason the style of weapons/armour makes me think of places like Cathay and Nippon from the Old World (not to mention that there was that underwater city from Lustria that was akin to Atlantis, I think it was Chupayotl? Need to check my old army books) Keep up the great work, and best of luck with exams! :)

Well, I intended my sauri to look somewhat more "universal", also leaning towards other cultures, not only mayan/aztec.
