Blog Painting of Renown! (Just kidding... but this is my blog)

I really like how the giant turned out! It has been fun to follow the process, and I like the originality of it, with the scratch built armor and the runes. Great work. :)

I think I'm gonna call this guy a done now as I want to move on to other projects (and I will hardly ever use this guy as he is a sub-par list choice).

Ah well. I think I like what I've done with him. (Although I will get my friend to do better photos at some point soon and I'll share those.)

I have enjoyed your updates on this immensely. I'm so glad the runes came out well, and he looks ready to smash.

Yeah... not a fan to be honest.

The models may be ass, but it opens the door for personal conversions (of whatever makeup of bitz you choose) for hashut to have a legion of followers.

Its the same as how I justify my kruleboyz-marauders conversions. not all servants of darkness look alike, and all that's needed for game requirements is the model be on the same base and have an equivalent load out.

Frankly I'm envisioning Byzantine plastics with hexagonal shields bearing Hashut's rune, for example.

Thanks guys. Your words mean a lot to me. :)

Careful @Lizards of Renown , this sounds like a Beastman trap. ;)

Beastman Ambush Intensifies :D

Until you realize that a Siege Giant costs nearly as much as a K'daai Destroyer and they both come out of rare!

I get your point now that I've looked through the PDF copy of Tamurkhan I scavenged online, but the real reason for my previous words on it was that it would be an awful shame to spend all that time making and painting that great Siege Giant conversion, and then not use him often simply because he's a 'subpar choice' compared to the OP Destroyer. If you care that much about competitiveness, it makes me wonder why you even bothered to convert him in the first place when you could just have gone straight to making a Destroyer.

I think you may have misinterpreted my posts. I did the model because I wanted to do a conversion and this seemed like a great one to start with.

I like making smart lists. I like working out lists that have the best chances for success. However, what you're saying here makes me sound like a power gamer, which I'm not.

As above, I wanted to do a conversion and this seemed like a good way to ease myself into doing them. This is my first ever.

I do recall you saying that this was your intro to conversions, I was simply saying that it would be a shame to not use him much, after all the work you put into making and painting him. He's a well-made model that deserves to be shown off on the battlefield as an awesome conversion you made and painted yourself, as part of a few games with the rest of your army, just like any other model you will convert in the future.

However, what you're saying here makes me sound like a power gamer, which I'm not.

I'm glad to hear that :)

So the contest of Chaos Dwarfs Online is over. I didn't get any medal, but I got an honorable mention as I was very close behind the three winners.

I'm taking that as a win! :D

So, now I can post all of the pictures. I'm really, really happy with how these guys turned out.

The whole theme of my Chaos Dwarfs is that they are the "Army of Ash and Flame" meaning they've been around the furnaces of the Chaos Dwarfs for so long that first their very skin has turned to ash and those especially chosen have become living flame or lava.

I really liked the basing I did on the Taur-ruk, as if where he put his foot down turns to lava.

Unlucky that you missed out on the top 3 and the random draws, but I was pleased to see the top 3 were worthy winners, certainly the best painted of the lot alongside yours.

A very nice job on those Renders! To be honest I think I prefer these to the Forge World ones, which have no armour and look too feral to fit with the rest of the Dawi-Zharr.

These turned out really great. An inspired idea with brilliant execution. Truly some of your best work. I thought they deserved a podium finish!
