1. Bretonnia
My background is historical and archaeological, I have a wide-eyed love of medieval fortification and weaponry, so what else but Bretonnia? The heraldry is limitless and that sheer character makes up for a lack of models. Also; Mousillon! Which takes me nicely onto.....
2. Vampire Counts
The one thing equally as cool as medieval knights? Undead medieval knights. My all-time favourite Warhammer idea was a late '90s undead army themed on Bretonnians. Spectacular. If I had serious ability as a modeller, that is the army I would create. The conversion potential for Vamp armies is huge too; skeletons, zombies, loads of character.
3. Skaven
Hordes of chittering plague-bearers armed to the teeth with weaponry that take out opponents and themselves in explosive conflagrations? Yes please.
--------------
4. Wood Elves
Some interesting models and a real Lord of the Rings vibe.
5. Orcs and Goblins
Some hilarious models, I was always amused by the doom diver in the Shadow of the Horned Rat PS1 game. Loads of character.
6. Dwarfs
Great regular models, but I'm just not a fan of machinery.
7. Tomb Kings
Score lower than the Vampire Counts as I've never been quite as attracted to the Egyptian theme.
8. Empire
Bog-standard attraction; haven't the appeal of the more virtuous Bretonnians.
9. None
Zero interest in the remaining Elves, Chaos etc.
South of no.3 are armies I couldn't envisage collecting; the Bretonnians, Vamps, Lizards and Skaven are the only four armies that really grab me.
