"Witnesss me, Old Ones!" started working on EOTG crew. Also, I took bastiladon crew home and found out they will not fit DIY Ark of Sotek, so I need to rework them.
And crew is done. As they were not spray primed, I went with same method as with Ork killteam, so they are a bit darker, but I hope that light colored EOTG will balance it back. Bonus properly fanatical look on priest´s face
Thanks! Eyes are simple pale sand as base, yellow speedpaint for whole eye and then just simple line of black. It is easier than round pupil
Alright... another day of looking at guard on my table and deciding to do something else. I realised what is going on, I just don´t like them. I painted them red to look dangerous and aggressive, but they look too dark. Even trying to mostly paint one to see if gold brings mini back to life made no difference... So I took Slann for a ride and gave him basecoat.
And of course that bugger has plenty of printlines But at least I am happy with overall look and will continue on him at friday as tomorrow I work from home.
One Slann is ready. I hope this get me to finish his guards as right now he is vulnerable without them.
Lovely! I really like his skin and the spots on it. The eyes are impressive. Keep up your great work Grrr, Imrahil
Thanks! I am really starting to like whole "start from black, drybrush to speedpaint possible" kind of work. It creates amazing shading and also I was wondering for last couple of days how to prime models during winter as spraying won't be possible. This way I can brush prime those minis.
There is some small progress on stegadon. I only need to paint ornament, palaquins (plus details) and then glue it together.
I made decision yesterday, while painting stegadon railing. I can´t do all the ropes for blankets again! And since I have three more stegadons to do (not including the one I am still working on) I realised that it doesn´t really have to be "CE" friendly. So... after some measuring, I made my own pillars for palaquins, without blankets and endless ropes around them. There are two sizes (short & tall). Tall ones are same height as original ones and will be placed instead of them. Short ones will probably be put between them instead of blankets and skink shields. I need total of around ninety and they are so small, that they all fit on single print bed.
Also, crew for DIY Ark of Sotek is done. Which means I will glue them on and another dino is finally finished (apart from base, that will be done sometime after great varnishing of 2023).
Oof... I did it I removed railing on next stegadon. Since EOTG is nearly finished, I need to assembly more models for painting as right now, primed are only temple guards and nothing else is assembled. It is relatively warm outside, so I can open window and glue things. Next batch will be skink chief on stegadon and few printed minis.
Welp... I decided that when I'm working on second one, I might as well do them all. In case anyone wondered how does stegadon look like without railings: And how does pile of railings from three stegadons look like Now wish me luck with those 3D printed bamboos, otherwise I would need to look at those custom howdahs I've seen on cults.
Today is national holiday and I agreed to work from home. I woke up at 4:45 AM, started up notebook, chugged big cup of coffee, read few e-mails, plugged in charger to suddenly realized that my account logged out and I got blocked. Since IT is not working during holiday, I am not working either. Pumped up from caffein, I waited till rest of family wakes up while watching fellowship of the ring and cleaning parts for those two stegadons. Since GW is likely to change bunch of rules before I get to play, I want to magnetise bows and throwers. I also found out that I broke 2mm drillbit while ago and I have no way of drilling holes for those magnets, so I made 50 euro order of modeling supplies... because I am missing drill bit 'D
Oh wow I love the slann 3D printed model, that is a beautiful sculpt. And I like the cheeky skink with the double javelins
