It's got it flaws, but the Order of the Stick webcomic is very well written. And they created an elaborate set up to legitimately explain why a villain thought chopping off his son's hand was for his own good.

Yes, OotS is a great webcomic. And also the related forum is a nice place. Not nice as Lustria, but still good (at least, 'til some years ago. Actually i only read the comic)

Well, it’s better than killing him, and I imagine Vader thought that was the only way he could get Luke to stop fighting and listen to what he had to say, because he knew Luke would have just kept trying to fight him otherwise.

I thought not. It’s not a story the SJW would tell you. It's a fan legend. Kathleen was a Dark Lord of the Establishment, so powerful and so wise he could use Hollywood culture to influence the creatives to create underserved film credits... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that she could even keep the solved social issues she cared about from dying. The social justice of the culture is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. She became so powerful... the only thing she was afraid of was losing her power, which eventually, of course, she did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything she knew, and the apprentice used to be Harvey Weinstein’s personal assistant which made her look like a hypocrite.

I saw video that created a plausible conspiracy. I don't believe it, but I have tiny doubts.

The premise is that fan outrage is pretty easy to predict (Disney Star Wars, Last of US 2, Dr. Who, Star Trek Picard). Fan appreciation is hard to predict (Joker 2019).

Marketers have very specific tools these days. A targeted ad is worth 100 general ads. The conspiracy is that major corporations create garbage remakes of beloved IP because they know that fans will complain about it on social media and advertisers can put targeted ads to these demographics on the complaining videos with laser precision.

I don't believe it because marketing is a very brutal profession where it's hard to make money and a lot of producers eat giant losses creating turds out of beloved IP, but I have lingering doubt.

There are key word algorithms via Facebook, Twitter, and the like that can accurately figure out if a woman is pregnant or not and then present her with ads for baby stuff. I've heard of cases where Facebook figures out a woman is pregnant before the woman knows she's pregnant.

It makes me wonder. Can Disney make money selling targeted ads to annoyed Star Wars fans?
