Blog Suds Paint Blog of Conquest: The Last Arguments of Kings

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate it! I'm sorry for the lack of posts but I really wanted to wait and share until I had more than a WIP picture to share:) With that said, Ive done a lot of work on the Tontorr especially, and am at a place to happily call it done! :)

I really love how the colors came out and how each element (Base, Tontorr, and Howdah) really play well together. I (and it seems you all too!) really love the war paint and how much it adds to the piece; giving it an added primal feel. It feels like it was made for the W'adrhŭn line to me, especially with the feathers added.

The howdah came out really well, though I may still add to it slowly (it is securely dry fitted on). I did some freehand, doing a large Thunder Lizard/Tontorr symbol and also a few tribal symbols on the sides (though hard to see in the pictures).

The base, though rather simple I really like, using cork to make two hills of sorts and adding some flowers to make the field more alive.

Ill be posting a video to my Instagram soon if anyone wants to check it out, Ill post a link here when I do! Also, it is on a 100mm base, I am going to also be using it for my Seraphon as a Stegadon. Plan is to magnetize it to a 120mm oval base for AOS, skinks look great on it!

Thanks man! Really a lot of fun to paint.

And agreed, bring back Amazons!

Ive wanted Amazons since I realized they were a thing in Fantasy. If these weren't so big I'd 100% be using them as such for AOS.

Such amazing work done this month :wideyed:

That Thunder Lizard is so awesome, I love the 'painted' thunder lizards both on the war paint and on top of the howdah.:artist::artist:
The basing of the Wadr'hun rider adds so much to the overall model.
Looking forward to the completed unit ;)

Grrr, Imrahil

Excellent!

Love the base structure too, first time I am noticing the round base slotting into a square.
Thanks man!

And yeah, the base structure is awesome! It makes their two games possible actually! The Base + Stand is for their Large scale gsme while just the base without stand is for their skirmish game! I actually really hope that GW follows this lead, its genius.

Thank you my friend, I appreciate it.

Honestly, she is probably the most fun I had painting a miniature in awhile. The War Paint is probably my favorite part, and Im wondering why I never did it to my Seraphon lol

Also love how the Raptor rider came out! All three Raptors are done and based, just need to finish two riders now! Lol ugh.

So! A surprise package (literally) arrived at my door, an Apex Predator! Apparently my wonderful partner ordered it for me without me knowing, after we had discussed no gifts this year due. She's so sneaky lol

It is HUGE! As you can see next to my original Thunder Lizard and as you can see with the Oldblood next to a leg. I'll get some better pictures soon, just very excited to share this future project!

Also, the size of my Thunder Lizard is likely to be the size of the Future Tontorr, as the Brachiosaurus is a 35mm scale vs the Apex (and Conquest) being a 38mm scale. Very exciting, especially since the TL fits on two 100mm bases, just as the Tontorr art shows! So that is exciting to me.

The Apex fits beautifully on a Dread Saurian base, however it is 2.5ish inches short from the Dreads height due to the large spine spikes, but some terrain can fix that height issue.

Very excited! 20211126_145032.jpg 20211126_150258.jpg 20211126_202944.jpg

She is definitely a sneaky keeper lol

I am excited to paint it eventually, but I honestly have no idea what scheme I'm going to do. I have only narrowed it down to a femald scheme, so not super bright or vibrant. Really unsure... for once

Man, honestly, Conquest has some gorgeous miniatures, and only more are coming! Ill be posting some stuff soon :)

But first, to my Apex :)

Using inspiration from the Blue Jays outside on my back deck, I decided that my Male Variant (yes, I have two ;)) would work woth those colors really well. This is the current Progress so far, and I absolutely love the flow of color. I am very much on a Lumineth kick, but aiming to also finish this along side my Alves 20211211_155107.jpg20211211_155049.jpg 20211210_102851.jpgtumblr_lk9hr5W1Bt1qeeqk5o1_640.jpg

Ha, yeah, gonna be awesome! Excited to get to that one too.

Fantastic work! Really like the yellowy and orange leather/knit fabric work of the harnesses/etc.
Thank you :) I really love how the threads and such came out, and still another part of the saddle to do!

Great color choices on this guy, great you are putting the inspiration to work :artist:
Thanks man!

Haven't done a lot of hobbying the past week or two, but finally getting the mojo back and beginning with a small kitbash.

This is my Witch Doctor Themed Apex Predator/Chieftain! Giving the Apex Predator a mask and some decorative wings, but still debating on a weapon(s) for him.20211229_183042.jpg

Current look at my custom Witch Doctor (Predator) with the Apex. I was going to use a different weapon originally, but I can't seem to find the bit (still searching!) and I do love how the original spear/skewer looks though! The original weapon was a staff looking but I was hoping to make into a more Witch Doctor staff

I have kitbashed other things in my W'adrhŭn army, but this is probably my favorite so far. Still Dry Fitted as I figure a few things out (along with if this will be the Apex he rides or if itll be on the other still to be built) but real happy with the general look.

Im also conflicted on if I'll out the remaining part of the saddle on, I really dislike that it covers up so much of the feathers, but we'll see. Apex also still WIP as I finish a few things.

Great work mate, the wings and mask really give that Witch Doctor vibe.
Looking at the total model I saw that the weapon is very long. It looks like he needs it to reach warriors on the ground, but to me it seems very impractical to wield. As a Witch Doctor would his attacks not come from magic?

In the closeup I spot some different mold lines on the wings and his arms. They are pretty visible, would be a shame to leave them on.
