Contest TERRAIN SQUARE CHALLENGE COMP.

@NIGHTBRINGER: That is too cool! It even comes with it's own smoke effects! :D Alright, now I totally expect so see your Slann's paliquin floating on your table top!
Wouldn't that be awesome. The only downside is that it only works as long as the superconductor is kept cold (hence the liquid nitrogen). Now if someone could invent a room temperature superconductor then they would be in line to win this competition; which go nicely with their Nobel prize.

I get right on that. Now if I can only remember where I put those barrels of Liquid Nitrogen...

Hmm sounds good, only I have never made a terrain piece before, and I don't have the materials, so we will see if I participate this time.
I do want a chance to win the prices though.

You can gather natural materials quite easily, loads of youtube videos with walk throughs and ideas

In theory if you had 2 magnets strong enough and put them pole opposite they will push apart creating a floating effect, attach fishing line to the floating piece and bingo, floating illusion.

That's why you need to invent/discover a room temperature superconductor. When superconductors are cooled beyond a certain threshold their electrical resistance becomes zero. If a room temperature superconductor could be discovered, then it would have zero electrical resistance even at room temperature so you would not require the liquid nitrogen. It would revolutionize the entire world. If you could discover/create it, you'd be a shoe in for a Noble prize.

I saw a video where somebody did this with some Elder jetbike. He used several magnets and very carefully lined them up at correct angles/positions in order to lock the model in a levitative state. It would be extremely tricky to do, but it is definitely possible.

Makes me want to enter so bad *laughs*
Been meaning to make some Lizardmen scenery, also some Skaven Clan Pestilence based scenery *attempts to dodge flurries of Fireleech bolases* Well Skaven scenery should be, somewhat quicker and easier for me to do.

Sounds like there is going to be some stiff competition for this one. @Crowsfoot has created quite the buzz around Lustria Online.

I'm excited! I, too, have been collecting parts for a temple for...10 years? I built a simple one years ago, but it's way bigger than 12x12. Time to begin anew!

And those prizes are serious motivation!

...and really, @NIGHTBRINGER, my mind has not been so blown in quite some time. The thing locked in space! Incredible!

...also, how many entries are we allowed?

Pretty cool huh? The joy of Science! It really is quite amazing. If the necessity to have it supercooled could be alleviated (via a room temperature superconductor) the applications would be endless. For starters the transportation industry would be turned on its head.

@Crowsfoot : How is the voting going to take place; two votes like the current painting competition or just a single? Or has that not been decided yet?

Hopefully this will be the first of many comps, hopefully other posters will gain confidence and want to host their own comp one day.

It will be a two vote system that way we all vote for our own and another entry, if it was a single vote we would all score 1!

One entry per poster please

But there could be a mini comp soon after this one :stig:

These prizes...wow. Puts the writing contest to shame (*cough* which you can still enter here *cough*).

Hmmm. I don't have any materials to hand...

Hopefully my semi-invisible rectangular temple of Tup'uhwaer will do the trick :p
