To start with, this wont be my first go at painting up an army. I have had a full 1000pt 8th army for around a year, an army I finished the very week AoS was announced  I have decided to move with the times and run headlong into AoS and rework the whole army to fit the new theme!

but you haven't come here to read the ramblings of an AoS heathen! You came here for a paint blog :)

SO to start, I thought I would upload some images of what I already have and start from there. I will try to explain in depth what I'm trying to do with the army in future posts as I begin to paint AoS style proper. These guys are still in their 8th style...but give them time :)

Later me speaking! I'm also going to add a list here of all my grey and painted models to help motivate me!

Greys:
40X Skinks with blowpipes
7X Saurus Knights
20X Temple Guard
3X Terradon Riders
1X Bastiladon
2X Salamanders
4X Handlers
1X Astroliph

Painted:
20X Saurus
3X Terradon Riders
3X Ripperdactyls
1X Troglodon :3
1X Arc of the Gods
3X Kroxigors
1X Skink Priest
1X Skink Starpriest (Custom)
1X Skink Chief (Custom)
1X Oldblood
1X Slann

The two on the left are my Skink Chiefs (well they WERE). Far left is a custom made from ripper rider parts, and the other is an old metal model my Mum had in here old collection :)

This guy is one of my favourites! My chameleons were my first proper conversion/customs. I spent ages bending the arm back and sculpting the tails and eyes!

So there we go! I have more picture if anyone wants more details on a specific one :) Feel free to ask questions as well! I will be posting more soon as I get more done. Probably on a daily/ every other day basis.

These look incredible! Great coloration on these!

Thank you guys! And thank you very much @Bowser :) I was pretty pleased when I managed to stumble on it after just experimenting with different colours and the Agrax I had just got at the time.

I've been working on this little guy today! I decided I didn't want to fork out for the the GW Starpriest model so....I made my own :) The idea was to build an awesome duel wielding mage in an epic hero pose. I think it worked out well!

I swear at least every one of my custom minis has Ripper rider parts all over it XD I made him a little knife as well, to match the warscroll, but found out that the cloak covers the area were it was meant to go, so I'll probably use it as a base decoration. I'll also need to smooth out the top of the cloak and add some green stuff to cover the messy cuts :L

I always look forward to good conversions! Can't wait to see this guy turn out!

Excellent work, makes me want to get onto my skink conversions but my project list is long atm.

Looking forward to seeing him painted up.

A quick update for the custom star priest!

I worked on a bit of sculpting to make a nice transition for the feather cloak, making it somewhat match the cloak from the GW feather cloak priest.

Also added one more feather to fill the gap on the back of the cloak, and to make it more obvious that its 3 distinct layers. The right arm was also swapped out to give him a more dynamic pose...and to make the staffs look less like decorated walking poles :)

(Sorry it's not the best quality. I have bad lighting and only my phone to take photos with)

You can also glimpse the little dagger I made him :) Not the fanciest, but should at least add something to the base.

Next steps will be to fill out the base with some green stuff and add all the little rocks and such :)

I should also be uploading some images of my Slann in a little bit. Plan to do some painting for the rest of the evening.

Update time!

I've been working hard painting up my Slann to finally be ready to plan some proper Seraphon games :) Just the Palanquin and base right now.

Again sorry for image quality. maybe one day I'll get a camera :) Next I just need to paint the Slann himself!

Comments welcome!

Thanks @Bowser :) With luck it shouldn't take to long... I have some plans to try and give him some kind of metallic galaxy like pattern. Sort of like the images in the book. Hopefully it turns out nice!

That sounds awesome! Definitely looking forward to see how you do with that!

Images are good, looks fantastic so far can't wait to see the Slann.

some very nice painting here @Phoedinn ! i like the palanquin quite a lot, looks pretty natural, and the overall colour scheme of green/white (i guess it's GW bleached bone for skin + dark angles-snot- gob green for lightening on the scales or something?) is pretty cool, i think its it's elegant. Did you hesitate with any other colours?

Thank you very much! Assuming you mean the lizards, there isn't any green in there (unless I used the wrong shade...I'm colour blind to it's quite possible XD)
The steps I take for the lizards are:
Base coat white > Agrax earth shade > Dry brush White > Layer white.
The scales on the back are Base > Zandri Dust > Agrax earth shade > Layer Ushabti Bone

I'm really glad you like the colour scheme :) It took me a few tries to get the look I liked when I first started, but when I tried this one I knew it was the one!

my bad, i was actually getting it all together: the green from the riders and skinks and the white from the saurus. its the riders i had in mind, they're the only ones with both colours. i like the harmony (i'm currently reflecting on colour schemes right now for my army as i'm not sure i want to go for the omnipresent electric blue… that makes me particularly sensitive to different tones so i got carried away lol).
Thanks for the details of paint layers, that might help me a lot :) and i think ill do the same and experience different patterns befoire going for one of them ^^

Ah I see! I guess I did slightly hesitate on that combination. At the time those were the only good colours I had to use XD I'm actually thinking of switching the frill colour to blue to match the new warpaint styles of AoS.
The greens I tend to use if that's what you were asking before are Waaarg! and warbos.

I agree with the blue, I never like to just do the box scheme. It's more fun to have a unique army.

This all looks fantastic. I also realised that the Ripperdactyl sprues are full of nice parts for conversions. I've used a bunch of spares for a Skink Priest.

I'm also planning a starfield like flesh but on the non-Slann. Work in progress. :)

Are you planning on rebasing all of your old army?

Thanks Jamie! Yep, it's all the posed arms that do it for me. Great for making interesting poses . Is your priest on you blog yet?? I'll go give it a look :)

I'm actually in the process of re-basing now! I came to bit of a stall when I ran out of green stuff though :L I'm going to have to get a load more as well seeing as I just got a bargain job-lot of Guards and Skinks :S

There were so many feathers, I built up a full cloak for him. :) He's waiting to be allowed by a moderator.
