Do you mean the builds that have been decided for this tourney or the units’ profiles in full?

First and last places would be great.

All units and builds so we can decide who we think will win and who will be last.

Haven’t you got all the PDF versions of the books? There are certainly some sites that have them all floating around the internet

No, no, no. Just a full list of each unit that is entering the competition and their builds.

    Like:

    1. Maneaters, poisoned attacks, stubborn, AHW for front rank, GW for back rank.
    2. Ushabti with GW
    3. Etc.

Just the final builds you decided to use for the tournament:
    • weapon options
    • magic banners
    • other choices/upgrades (i.e. marks of chaos)
Profiles aren't necessary, as we can just look those up for ourselves.

    @Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl

Something along the lines of this...

Our complete list of units competing in this experiment:
    • Skullcrushers of Khorne [Ensorcelled weapons]
    • K'daai Destroyer
    • White Lions of Chrace [Banner of the World Dragon]
    • Chaos Warriors [MoN, Halberds]
    • Arachnarok Spider
    • Demigryph Knights
    • Mournfang Cavalry [Ironfist, Heavy Armour]
    • Black Guard of Naggarond
    • Witch Elves
    • Har Ganeth Executioners
    • Hell Pit Abomination
    • Beasts of Nurgle
    • Savage Orc Big'Uns [AHW]
    • Chaos Trolls
    • Soul Grinder [MoN, Daemonbone Claw]
    • Hammers

The only things that need to be listed are things that you specifically chose to take for the unit. No need to list anything that is automatically included. For example, with the Witch Elves, I didn't list AHW because they are always equipped like that (no other option is available), but in the case of the Savage Orcs I did list the AHW because it is an elective option.

Right, thanks, that’s what I wanted to clarify. In that case I’ve certainly got them all written down:
    • Minotaurs (Additional Hand Weapons, Musician, Standard Bearer)
    • Kroxigors
    • Ogre Bulls (Additional Hand Weapons, Musician, Standard Bearer)
    • Ironguts (Musician, Standard Bearer with Standard of Discipline)
    • Maneaters (Poisoned Attacks, Stubborn, Additional Hand Weapons in front rank, Great Weapons in rear ranks, Musician, Standard Bearer with War Banner)
    • Yhetees
    • Trolls (River Troll version)
    • Rat Ogres (Minimal Packmasters)
    • Ushabti (Great Weapons, Musician, Standard Bearer)
    • Crypt Horrors
    • Vargheists
    • Chaos Trolls (Additional Hand Weapons)
    • Chaos Ogres (Mark of Khorne, Additional Hand Weapons, Musician, Standard Bearer)
    • Tree Kin
    • Skin Wolves (Mark of Slaanesh)
    • Fimir Warriors
    • K’daai Fireborn
    • Bile Trolls
    • Fenbeasts (Born of Bloodmarsh)
For my own predictions, I believe the K’daai Fireborn will prove to be the best if the Destroyer’s performance in @NIGHTBRINGER’s tourney is anything to go by, and the worst will be the Fimir because of their whopping cost of 75 points per model for a Kroxigor-style unit whose only extra is a bound spell that forces the enemy to suffer a -1 to hit penalty in melee (which is decent but not worth 25 points by itself in my opinion).

However, this is just what I predict. I could be wrong about either unit!

Wow I’m late to the party. I’ve never though of running the back rank of man eaters with GWs. With a base strength of 5 I don’t think the man eaters need poison though. I feel that swift stride is super useful to help get that 10+ for the ogre charge on the other hand.

In regards to the magic standard, you have a choice to make. Are we list-tailoring against the field of competitors specifically in the tournament (in which case it is a brutally easy choice), or is the aim to present the unit as you would more likely to find it on the battlefield?

In this tournament the fighters start off in combat, and no charge bonuses are counted, so Swiftstride for Maneaters would be useless in this case. You’re right though, in a regular game Swiftstride would be a great choice and would be very helpful for getting that all-important Ogre charge in.

I wanted to see if anyone else had any recommendations before choosing a banner myself, but as nobody has given any recommendations I will make the choice.

The Banner of Eternal Flame is certainly a killer choice to take in this contest - there are an abundance of units with Regeneration or Flammable in this tournament, so Flaming Attacks would cause havoc. However, in an all-comers list it's a lot less likely to appear because the majority of the units in the game either have no special rules that make them susceptible to Flaming Attacks or have an active defence against them (including the K'daai Fireborn in this contest). The White Lions in your tourney have the Banner of the World Dragon because that's the most popular build when they are included in a competitive all-comers list, so it would make sense to apply the same rule here. I think the Razor Standard would be of more use to Maneaters in a game overall, because currently they only inflict a -2 armour save penalty due to Strength 5 which gives even regular infantry with heavy armour and shield a 6+ armour save (alongside their parry save). In this tourney it would also give them a bit more oomph against units like Kroxigor and Tree Kin, so I think they should take this banner.

Ironguts can also take a Magic Standard. Again the Razor Standard would help give them some extra oomph in combat in a regular game, but in this tourney it would be useless because the most heavily-armoured units they're going up against will have a 4+ save, which is already covered by their Strength 6 Great Weapons. Therefore, for the Ironguts the Banner of Eternal Flame would be a much more useful choice.

I think you have a fair choice here. If I was tailoring the units to go up against the troops I would have said Flaming Banner, but it felt more than a little contrived (and also we all know that @NIGHTBRINGER wants you to pick flaming banner so that his Chaos Dwarf unit get's it's 2++ ward save ;) ).

I think you've made a choice which would be theoretically balanced, so just go with it.

To be honest, I would give Maneaters the Standard of Discipline, other than Razor Standard. Its impact is not that great and the price is quite high, almost another Maneater to add to the unit. War Banner is also viable, I think.

War Banner then. They already have Stubborn so by the law of averages for the Tournament they are unbreakable.

(If there was another close combat related ability they could take, it would make a difference, but the only two that affect combat are poisoned attacks and stubbron, so War Banner)

Good, War Banner for the Maneaters and Banner of Eternal Flame for Ironguts it is then. I'll update the list post above with those choices.

Now, who do you think will win out of the first two combatants - Kroxigors and Rat Ogres? Results in a mo!

My bet (and hope) is Maneaters for the win and, unfortunately, I think the Ushabti will be last.

I will never choose ratmen over lizardmen. Kroxigors for the win!

    +1

This is the same reason why I'm backing the Maneaters to win, even though I have a bad feeling that the K'Daai may end up proving superior.

Well, here we go folks, the first fight of this tourney begins...

    Key rules in play:
    • Kroxigors: Great Weapons, Cold-blooded, Predatory Fighter, Scaly Skin (4+)
    • Rat Ogres: Frenzy, Beast Pack
    Kroxigors vs Rat Ogres.PNG
Sadly for all Lizard fans, the patchwork Clan Moulder creations pulverise the crocodilian Temple City guardians over a couple of painful rounds. Cold-blooded at least kept the Kroxigors in the fight for a little longer and allowed them to kill off three out of the seven Rat Ogres, but the combination of Frenzy, Strength 5 and high Initiative meant the Rat Ogres always had a strong advantage, and the Kroxigors couldn't recover from that.

Without further ado, let's add our first result to the scoreboard!

I refuse to acknowledge this resut. We all know that ratmen cheat on dice rolls (13 with 2d6, come on!) :p

For this one I am going Kroxigors.
For the contest I will place my bets on the Ogre Bulls

    Grrr, Imrahil
