Blog The Grove: Personal and Commission Works

Those small (proper word to describe them) in the second picture are awesome sculpts! They could be used as squigs
I believe they are called shredders!

Some more progress. I need to over spray some of the brown on the shredders, the client decided he wanted more blue. Sucks because I will have to repaint all the small brown dots but oh well..

I don't understand how people like metal models.... for painting at least, they are the absolute worst (i guess some like the sturdiness of them which I understand) . Thankfully there are only 2 metals figs in this army. The back piece on the left called The Forsaken is one of them.

Me neither, I found that metal models are an absolute pain to paint because the primer doesn´t stick as well as to plastic and the paint keeps chipping off. They look good, by the way. I am really in love with those shredders

I love the metal minis can't stand plastic.

I guess it's just being used to having Arnold Schwarzenegger arms to carry them around.

I remember the first aos game in the gw... I had my metal steggi with me... The guy I played against told me I'll win after I deployment. I asked why and the answer whas: Better let you win, than got that one drop on my feet or thrown against the head. :D:D:P

I like using primer through an air brush through. I find it so much easier to get into all the recesses unlike a rattle can. :(

Update below.

Nice looking your shredders!

Going to start an Infinity Commission, here are a few of the models I received. This commission was done with a trade for MtG Cards. If you have cards you want to get rid of and models you need paint PM me!!

This is about half the models. I will post the more as time goes on.

Hey I have afew mtg cards I don't know if you'd be intrested in any and I'm not sure if i'd be able to get my models to you costly process :P where are you based? I think you're based in USA somewhere I read Houston somewhere in your messages - also i'm hyped up on monster energy right now so forgive the sporadic message :P

The Forsaken is done! More progress on the Carnivean as well. These mini's are ok, the Forsaken is metal which for me is a pain. I definitely like the quality of GW much more then this company.

The second creature almost looks like a devolved kroxigor, like a Lizardmen who lived in the cave too long and lost his eyesight. And instead grew huge scales and razor-sharp claws...

Quite evil of you, well done! I really like how you have painted the highlighting on the scales. The skin almost looks frosted, while the scales are like hardened lava. Also it still looks like a devolved lizad to me. Thanks for sharing this one!

Thanks! This is how the client requested it to be painted. The skin and carapace are very different paint style but it works!

Finish product of some Shredders:

Happy Monday all :) Yesterday I reallllly did not want to hand brush.... I just did not want to do it. Painting daily for hours for the last.... year? has really started getting me burnt out.

I decided to dial in my Sotar 20/20 and just use that. Man I am amazing at how detailed you can get with the thing without overspraying.

I base coated most of the leather black, then came back and hit the paneled armor with purple, shaded (by hand ;) ), then highlight again with the airbrush. After that I proceeded to hit the dark silver on the other metal pieces and spear tips.

All of this with NO masking tape on the 5 regular guys and a couple of pieces on the metal boss fig. Do this all with an airbrush saved me hourssssss.

Sorry for the blurry pic.

What are these guys? They look like they have lion heads?

From what I can see the purple armor looks good so far. Good luck with using an airbrush though, I have never tried that yet myself (just a spray can for black basecoats, that's all...)

They are from a Hordes army, I believe they are called Warspears. They are very cool looking. Not much luck needed using the airbrush, ive been doing it for a couple years. ;) thank you though!
