The never-ending battle against woke Hollywood and SJW infused entertainment media [trigger warning]

but something makes me think that this one will go through...

I don't believe so. Note I don't really care either way, Star Wars is not going to be salvaged. Disney is not going to collapse a company anytime soon, and Kathleen Kennedy is not going to be punished worse than the aforementioned mockery Steven Spielberg inflicted on her which is far less than she deserved.

I do like being right, so we can make a gentleman's bet if you want.

That depends on if @Mrs. NIGHTBRINGER delivers on the functional infinity gauntlet that I requested of her.

Like I said, it's only a hunch. I don't bet on hunches (even friendly bets). Your position is the safer bet, I just have an inkling feeling.

Plus I posted the video before @Scalenex , so it's a double win. :)

I won't say I let you win this one. While I am big fan of Critical Drinker, I am not a big fan of Indiana Jones.

The original three Indiana Jones, I don't dislike them. I did enjoy the movies, but I am hardly a superfan. Crystal Skull killed what little fandom I had.

Anyway, I know is thread is mostly about short gotcha videos or memes, and this video might be a bit long, but I found it interesting, and the last few minutes ended with a positive outlook on the future of the War on Woke with some useful tips on how to be effective and ethical culture warriors.

You seem to be able to inject the CCP into a conversation as I would Star Wars, Hashut or Warhammer Proper.

I won't say I let you win this one.

Crystal Skull was trash. I don't really like Temple of Doom either. My favourite of the series is easily The Last Crusade. That's a great movie.

Look up "Elon Musk AND Taiwan" in an internet search engine. I didn't pull that joke out of nowhere.
I suppose we all have our triggers. I hate KK, while you hate the CCP. I was merely pointing out that it was a bit of a tangent.

As for Elon Musk and Taiwan...

He's not exactly wrong. Mind you, this is just the first video that came up. I'm (personally) not that invested in the topic enough to search through hours and hours of content.

In another interview he basically said that Taiwan should capitulate to the CCP to avoid bloodshed and he said they could get a one country two-systems policy and the Taiwanese would get more leniency than mainland Chinese. He said this after all the oppression went down in Hong Kong and he said the CCP would probably not be that harsh in Taiwan.

Basically, the CCP has him over a barrel because they control his supply of batteries for Teslas.

Speaking of this, I find this quote truer than ever.

1708575969-of-all-tyrannies-a-tyranny-exercised-for-the-good-of-its-victims-may-be-the-most-oppressive.jpg

I remember someone (I think it was @Scalenex) mentioning this quote before. While C.S. Lewis certainly has a point about tyrannies based upon morals (or warped perceptions of morals in the case of wokists), I personally don't think Robber Barons are any better, because whereas moral tyrants are restricted by said morals, robber barons have no morals, and very often take pleasure in that, because they care only about themselves, their money and their opulence. What's worse, because they have so much money, they could only ever be persuaded to do or not do anything by offering them similarly large amounts of money, which nobody can afford except them, which means they effectively have free run of the world because they can buy the allegiance of 90% of the population, and if they wanted to they could buy private armies to destroy nations and governments.

That's why I despise greedy little Ferengi like Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg and the rest. They're my personal trigger, just like @NIGHTBRINGER with KK and @Scalenex with the CCP.

Crystal Skull killed what little fandom I had.

Crystal Skull was trash.

Why, out of interest? I personally enjoyed Crystal Skull as much as the original three.

I don't judge you for liking it. I don't think it was trash. A combination of little things marred my enjoyment of the film. I own it. Long ago, when my town had a Blockbuster my dad and I would hit up the previewed video section twice a month and buy discounted DVDs. I watched Crystal Skull once and don't regret it. Unlike the previous three Indiana Jones movie. I do not wish to watch it a second time.

1) I thought that that Harrison Ford was a bit old to be doing an action movie.

2) Karen Allen/Marian Ravenwood was old to be the center of a romantic B-plot. Maybe I'm shallow but I don't generally like seeing old people romance unless Jack Nicholson is involved. I liked Something's Gotta Give and the The Bucket List (it's a bromance, but he does play wingman to his buddies struggling marriage) and I really liked As Good as it Gets.

3) I didn't think aliens meshed well with the pre-existing mythos of the franchise. It might have worked but I think it could have been handled well.

4) I don't think Shia LaBeouf is a bad person, but don't think is a good actor.

5) The first three movies used the Nazis as the institutional bad guys, but they couldn't really do that in a movie set in the 1950s. The Soviet Union was a natural stand-in and it could have worked but I don't think it was handled well by the writers because they frequently put in anti-capitalist barbs while still having Communists as the villains. Imagine if the first three Indiana Jones had characters periodically bringing up the upsides of fascist government systems?

Really the ancient Crystal Skull aliens would have not been conceptually if Nazis were trying to find them in the 1930s or if Soviets were trying to find them in the 1950s or black ops Americans were trying to find them in the 2000s. If you are going to use alien technology, it should have been worked into the Cold War and/or Space Race better to reinforce the setting/villains.

6. A lot of the best and the worst movies mix genres. The first Indiana Jones reflected George Lucas' and Steven Spielberg's love of the adventure serials when they were kids. Crystal Skull tried to work in GL's love of 1950s B-horror movies and it was an awkward fit here.

7. Like just about every old franchise that was dusted off and repurposed in the 21st century, this movie had interfering committees had a "Too Many Cooks problem".

8. The original Indiana Jones movies had a lot of gritty 1980s style violence. This movie was tamer and it's not what I expected or wanted to see.
