Very true, that is a nice piece of architecture. I have been there and the first 7 rooms or so are magnificent with all sorts of richness bedecked. Then you enter a couple of empty concrete Rooms because King Ludwig ran out of money and died soon after.

Well worth the visit.

It's apparently not the only palace he had commissioned either, though it's definitely the most well-known. Another that I've visited was Herrenchiemsee, a lake island palace near the Austrian border that was apparently heavily inspired by the Palace of Versailles.

He certainly wasn't known as "the Fairy Tale King" for nothing. That's for sure.

I've been there as well, they are not far from eachother.

He also was thought of as very crazy.
