As for traffic in here, we shall see. I don't think you should see too much difference, and this section was only made because people requested it. If it turns out that not many people look here, would be easy to get rid of the section and move all threads back to the open painting forum.

Would it be possible to make it a Forum instead of a sub-forum??? I think most people enjoy having the paintlog forum as it's easier to keep track of armies you are following, the problem is the sub-forum format, which isn't really easy to see at 1st.

Since my painting log has been created in this section, it's gotten close to 500 hit with me updating it not nearly as often as I should so I think that once people know where to find the forum, it's actually used.

Sorry for the off-topic.

Now on to Xtapl's work:

- I really like the skink priest. I love the stripes on his crest, it makes him look different. As usual, your basing is really nice. The gem on the staff is also very nicely done.

- As for the palanquins for your skink mage-priest, I really like the 1st one, IMO, it's the best one out of the 2. The 2nd one is still good, but wow, the 1st one is I-N-S-A-N-E!!!!

Yeah its definitely possible, not sure how valuable it would be though. I'll have a chat with Sammy. I mean, it can be seen and accessed from the front page even if it is a bit smaller, most people should know it is there by now.. But lets not derail this topic, stick to talking about Xtapl's work. If it is a big issue, bring it up in the Ideas, Problems Feeback forum. ;)

They're the same palanquin. ;) The top pic is of the front; the bottom one is the back.

It's going to be a total nightmare to paint, but I'm up for the challenge. :D

Re: The Rise of Xaxlachaq - A Blog UPDATE: 2/1

Judging from the rest of your work you'll do a fantastic job on it regardless.
Smashing work all round.

Well that does makes sense now that I'm looking at it that way uh! That's what you get for checking forums first hand in the morning when you wake up!!! I'm sure that you'll do a great job as usual and I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished product!

That would be a awsome planqin for Tet;ekko (the skink priest who can enter a skink unit like a slann in a temple gaurd unit)

Actually Tetto Eko can't go in TG, he rides i a skink unit without kroxigor like it is a TG unit.

Re: The Rise of Xaxlachaq - A Blog UPDATE: 2/1

That palanquin really ROCKS! Maybe I will steal the idea in the future, if you don't mind ;)
Jormi: I won't start a flamewar (and hopefuly I would not) but read the quoted reply carefully ;) No one said anything about Tetto going with TG ;)

Re: The Rise of Xaxlachaq - A Blog UPDATE: 2/1

Yeah, I misread. I think because that palanquin looks like it is 50 mm.

Re: The Rise of Xaxlachaq - A Blog UPDATE: 2/1

The Palanquin -is- 50mm, because I play with a regular old Slann. It's not Tetto'eko.

Anyhoo....

Major update!

Finally, after almost two weeks of fiddling, painting, repainting, fiddling, and painting, I have put the wraps on my namesake.

Behold, the Skink Mage Priest Xtapl, Chosen Child of Xapati, Defender of Xaxlachaq!

Really, really happy with how this model turned out...some of the best work I've done in a while, I think. The pictures don't do the model justice; there's a lot going on there that you have to be close up to see.

I'm in the end game now...I have 12 Chameleons up on the rigs now, and when they're done, the tournament army is done. Then it's another unit of Terradons to take the army back up to the 2500 mark I designed it at, and then...who knows? Stuff just for fun and expansion after that. :)

Comments and such blah blah blah...

Re: The Rise of Xaxlachaq - A Blog UPDATE: 2/1

absolutely stunning! Bravo!

Re: The Rise of Xaxlachaq - A Blog UPDATE: 2/1

I second that!!

Re: The Rise of Xaxlachaq - A Blog UPDATE: 2/1

Impressive work, I really like that you used silver and bronze for the metallics, together it looks really nice. I think you really pulled an impressive conversion/paintjob and you can be very proud of what you achieved!!!!

Re: The Rise of Xaxlachaq - A Blog UPDATE: 2/1

Wow. I agree, very nice work and very impressive and striking model. You should indeed be proud of it!

Re: The Rise of Xaxlachaq - A Blog UPDATE: 2/1

Absolutely fantastic conversion and paint job.

Re: The Rise of Xaxlachaq - A Blog UPDATE: 2/1

Ohhh I missed that you got Teko-eko paited,
I have to say the paint job realy pulled the conversion together well. :D

Re: The Rise of Xaxlachaq - A Blog UPDATE: 2/1

All right. Let's see if these pictures come out worth a damn. :)

I have finished up the 2250 version of the army. I am starting to put together the last unit of Terradons to take it up to 2500, and then after that? Who knows? I think maybe an Ancient Steg or two, then I dunno. I might even break down and do some Saurus. :) (But come on. Probably not. :D)

Anyway, here are a couple of (probably awful) full army shots, taken on my back yard deck, so don't mind the background:

2250-2.jpg

SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINKS!

2250-3.jpg

Some new Sallies:

And a whole lot of new Chameleons:

2250-5.jpg

Updates will probably be slower now that the bulk of the army is done, but I'll still upload stuff from time to time as I add to the army.

Cheers!

Yep that is definitely an amazing looking army. Wow.

I say do some saurus, would love to see how you tackle them! :)
