Blog Warden's Other Paint Log

Travesty and woe is upon us brothers!

While I was painting my orks earlier this week; it seems an imperial assassin sneaked into my workspace and tricked me into knocking over my green wash jar with my elbow... :shifty:

Lost about half of the product in about two seconds :argh:

IN ORDER TO PREVENT FUTURE SPILLS (turns out spilling GW washes happens quite often according to some internet posts out there), I have constructed a small device to hold the jar:

(made of cheap orky materials: foam board and a used toilet paper roll)

I tried knocking the paint jar over again, it is MUCH more difficult to do now, so hopefully I don't accidentally loose anymore product in the service of Gork and Mork!!

What a great idea!
I have luckily never had such great misfortune but I did spill a significant amount of Asurmen Blue in the past. Luckily it was a small pot so there was less of a catastrophe.

In other news, since all my Ork Boyz back-banners got temporarily ruined, I finished up a small group of Ork Stormboyz instead:

The nob was previously painted, and all ten follow the Evil Sunz clan color scheme. More work needs to be done to finish the bases, and I am thinking to add some designs to their rocket packs as well, just haven't decided what kinds (checkers, spirals, radioactive symbols, more bomber faces, stuff like that).

Wow, the old Stormboyz, basically ordinary Boyz with rockets on their backs!

They actually look quite comical the fact that they are just ordinary Boyz with rockets on their backs, while the new ones (which are the ones I have) look the business more, if you know what I mean.

I lost half a pot of yellow glaze that way.

I lost a full pot of Agrax this week

Those look awesome! And my wash spill was the purple one, Druchii Violet!

That sucks! Goblin mischief!

Don't you mean Gretchin mischief? :p

The Orcs look cool. A bit comic-style to me, but that's perfect for Orcs. :)

Agreed, it is all that proporkanda at work :blackalien:

Also I should start learning weathering and rust effects... maybe next project :bag:

I once spilled beer on my painting table, and I also knocked over my water glass. Twice at least....
I then decided that I had too much stuff on my table and cleaned it up a bit. I tend to put so much stuff on my table that my actual surface to work on is just 30x30cm. :D

Speaking of beer, I did spill some on my troglodon once.

Also @Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl the one that came to mind for me was this one:

Heard that waaaaay too many times :argh:

Working on many orks simultaneously is slowing down my output, but they are coming around enough to take a mass picture:

The mostly finished red stormboyz, and the nobz, are in the back. The next group of stormboyz is also nearly complete, making it time to start painting the armor on the boyz!

You can also see my custom fire tokens, that still need a few more coats.

Is that a 5th Edition Lizardmen army book I see in the background? :wideyed:

Also loving the Boyz! Have you tried using Reikland Fleshshade on Orks? I find it looks great on green because it makes them look really dirty and unkempt.

6th edition.

Definitely 6th edition, my first Lizardmen (and warhammer) codex!

Got the 5th edition saved to my computer though for reference. Lots of great background material in it.

I haven't tried Reikland Fleshade, I have been using the Biel-Ten shade to get the green really vibrant (and more detail), but I want to get either Reikland or some other brown-ish shade to start doing the weapons and metal though. As much as they look great just with the metal coat, I think ork weapons tend to be on the rusty side.

I would say Reikland Fleshshade for skin and Agrax Earthshade for weapons.

I haven't had much time to paint until yesterday and today, that therefore was able to finish a small project I had "waiting in the wings,"

The newest addition to the Luftwaaaagh on a unique triplane variant not seen before:

Some side shots of the "Snoopy Ork" and his doghouse triplane:

This is the picture I drew inspiration from, with some obvious changes of course:

I hope you like how he turned out, he is definitely striding the humorous line that the ork army tends to cross.

Also he is magnetized!

And is the entire triplane wing so far:

CURSE YOU RED BARON! :mad::punch::rage:

Now all that is left is to eventually add some smoke :D

Love those Ork triplanes! Here's some music to listen to while you're making more of them!

"...they don't think of nature, they really don't care!" :joyful:

Those gave me a big laugh, I haven't seen either one before! My wife says she remembers the "stop the pigeons" cartoon from reruns on cartoon network/boomerang as a kid, but I have never seen it before! Hilarious stuff, I may have to consider making a giant plane with a hammer and anvil now...

:D

My weirdboy is also coming together!

warden201806_sign ork WIP.jpg

I imagine his day at the airport would be something like this:

I got a couple savage orc dudes in the works, but for now here are my new Ork Lootas!

warden201806_ork lootas 2.jpg

They are from the Snakebits clan, using bits from the Savage Orcs (Orruks) set.

Here is the band of ugly misfits, I couldn't help but give them names :D

Pebbles and Muttonchops:

Maniac and Monocle (the front sightpost on his weapon has been removed to be over his eyeball instead for extra :joyful:)

And number five, Rambork with his as-yet unnamed ammo grot:

The lads in line:
