Printed extra sci Fi bodies and cleaned a whole slew of metal sisters. One more set of those to finish cleaning once my fingers recover

I'd better give you all an update of what I've been doing over the past month.

At the beginning of April, during a week's holiday off work I bought an issue of Wargames Illustrated with a free Epic Pike and Shotte cavalry sprue, my first ECW minis I will be using with The Kingdom is Ours, plus snapped up 30 Orks, most of which are well-painted and will need just a change of base colour to match my Ork army, for £18:

Plus received some 40mm square and 50x150mm rectangular bases (not pictured) and a Reaper Bones Stone Circle for Easter:
    IMG_20230506_193833_253.jpg

A month later, during another holiday from work, I managed to find a 6th Edition Chaos Space Marines Codex in nearly-new condition for £2, bought a few paints and, yesterday, purchased a couple of affordable MDF sci-fi hab-blocks from ColourForge, for 40K and particularly Shadow War:

    IMG_20230505_192048.jpg

I'm particularly impressed with these MDF buildings, and look forward to putting them together. I was initially a bit sceptical about MDF as an option for terrain, but after seeing some pics of similar terrain being painted I'm confident these will make a good beginning to my Necromunda/Shadow War terrain collection. I'm also motivated by the affordable price of ColourForge and TT Combat terrain for this theme, you can get so much more terrain for the price in MDF than in plastic, it's made me a bit of an MDF convert!

I'm really going to have to get my own set of those stone circles. I primed the extra Oldblood on foot from the troglodon I built and I primed a "counts as" Vardek Crom.

    I meant today :rolleyes::oops:
On the other hand all that needs building from the Seraphon box in one more Raptadon Hunter. It all assembled quite nicely except for the first piece of the Slaan chair. It had incorrect instructions showing you to attach a different side than was needed. Not a huge deal but enough to cause me an issue.

I had these installed yesterday and I'm super happy to be able to properly display my hobby like this :D

Hey I finished it! But I'm going to wait for daylight to actually photograph it :p

My plan to not prime my new Saurus warriors in order to get this finished is now backfiring. The night is young and my desire to paint is high.

And... my 3d printer was "delayed in transit." The wash and cure station arrived, but the printer looks to be arriving today. No worries. I had stuff I needed to do last night anyway.

Trying to pick a new paint brand to go with rather than Citadel, I love some colours but most just cause so many issues. Probably spent more from the replacing colours that just turn into split goop or the dreaded lids making them dry out.
I have transfered most paint to droppers with shakers but doesn't solve some issues with certain colours.
Did narrow it down to Scale 75, Kimera Kolors and the new Broken Anvil that is on Kickstarter. Yet still finding the pros and cons to Broken Anvil as only a select few got a chance to look at the paints.
Of course there is Vallejo, I enjoy their airbrush range but a bit not certain on their main range, sometimes I think it's to do with the ranges available and the paint sets being a bit on the confusing side or forcing to spend on a case or airbrush. Well I like my paint sets as it's easier to build up a collection. I can't understand my own 'Meh' feeling towards them apart from the airbrush paints. Then having a main range would match the airbrush ones.
Greenstuff was on the table also but brushed it off cause I can't get any info on their new formula range. Shame cause I enjoy their special sets like the Flour colours.
So it's the decision of the very matt style paints of Scale 75, the heavy mixing and thinning of Kimera or taking up some faith for Anvil.
I kind of lean towards 75 as there is more to read/watch on than the others, even though they do what others do and have a thousand ranges :bookworm: Which I could just pick one set and try out. I still have their metallics to try.

I have so much to sort out, one thing is needing a paint shaker as my wrists are not appreciating it.
I did had to patch a metal miniature the other day, of course a painting challenge one, arm snapped right off when it fell off the stand, not sure how I was capable of breaking metal like that :hilarious:

Those are lovely cabinets. Custom build, or where did you buy them? *curious*

Unfortunately for both of us I got them at a thrift store for 90 euros. I wouldn't mind having one or two more. The white background is actually a plastic and behind is a light system that shines through. Not sure if they actually work since they didn't come with plugs wired but could be really cool if I ever get round to finding out.

Got around to priming my Saurus and Slaan today and started on the seat as for me it was the least interesting part to do, however, so far it's been somewhat fun lets hope that continues :D
In other news, stalking ebay today has netted me a Wood Elf Spell weaver and a set of 5 Sisters of the Thorn for 18 quid including delivery. Quite happy with that.

I've been wondering about Scale 75 myself. Let me know how they are if you get them. I have been using a mix of Citadel, P3 paints and Army Painter range and I've been happy with them.

NEVER apologize for buying something from a thrift store. They have awesome stuff you cannot get elsewhere, and you're helping to keep that stuff out of a landfill. They look awesome, and that is a good price for a trio of cabinets. I'm sure they could be rewired with only a little work.

I use a lot of Vallejo paints, myself, but honestly as long as it has the color I want, I don't care which product line it is from. There is a certain freedom that comes with having this attitude. :D

When I was 14 and very, VERY broke, I found a small Chaos Dwarf army in a thrift store. More recently, a friend found like 2 dozen White Dwarfs from the early 2000's at another thrift store.
