What are you doing today hobbywise?

Currently contemplate doing something more than a dry fit of parts for a box of Horus Heresy space marine heroes (the one with the plasma pistol wielding chaplain and the cataphracti terminator with the combi-melta and chainfist).

I had quite the time earlier this week when a cursory glance at stuff in Chapter Approved made me realize just how much of a disadvantage I had given myself in previous 40k games with my Salamanders just in points alone. That is, just about every major ticket item in the 2000-point army list I was using had gotten a very noticable points reduction - the terminators, storm shields, veterans, combi-weapons, heavy flamers, land raider redeemer, multimelta, redemptor dreadnought, and Vulkan He'stan himself all accounted for around 240 points total worth of point cost reductions since the codex release.

Taking a 9-man and two 5-man tactical squads and removing the redemptor's icarus missile pod brought the army up to 1999pts total when all was said and done. This also gives me the benefit of fielding the entire force as a battalion detachment for the strategem points.

Decided my shaggoth conversion needed some chaotic friends, so started work on a full beasts of chaos converted monster mash (pic purposefully un-detailed) further pics to follow once I’ve added a ton of green stuff to them all.

That's a nice elephant.
28mm scale I think?

mmm... I'm probably going to be working on my skink priest base, get 2 flags done a mushroom and some snakes, after that I'm going to grab some blue tac and plan out my trees

Well, this weekend turned out to be rather productive.

On Saturday, I slapped together some rapier platforms while bringing about the End Times in a Warhammer 2 Total War co-op game. In all, three quad mortars and three laser destroyers.

Today, I finally got started on the dread saurian I had been holding off for nearly a year, and then had quite the WFRP session in a night goblin campaign.
Our party, situated in southern Bretonnia, was caught up in the End Times, and with everything literally going to hell we started praying to random deities while engaging in the mayhem. We'd remembered from our delusional "knight" in the party that there was this lady of some lake that granted blessings, and in the process managed not only to gain her blessing but also secured a means of surviving the End Times. Because of this, our characters found themselves in Gyran with enough nearby goblins and snotlings to start our tribe anew as Stone Age hunter-gatherers.

We again lucked out on gaining the audience of another non-greenskin deity, this time being Alarielle herself, simply because we really didn't have any way of defending ourselves. Being diplomatic for a change, we managed to secure a source of cloth and iron in exchange for clay topiaries and mushrooms, and the shaman, formerly a witch in the World-That-Was, is now learning Life magic from her when he isn't cultivating the mushrooms.

I have done something silly.

Grot Mek Zodoff was thinking before bed one night, and woke up with a start to gather the other Meks about. "Hey," he said, "We need somefing ta deal wif flying fings when da dakkajet is in da shop, roight? So Mork comes to me in a dream, and says 'why don't ya put rokkits on dem hoppy squigs? Da riders like jumpin high ANYWAY, so wif da rokkits dey can jump even HIGHER!' Whattya fink?"

And thus were born... Da Stormsquigz...

Yes, that's squig hoppers with rokkits and slugga pistols. Why? Because I COULD!!! Seriously though, they fit the theme of my all-Grot Ork army better than actual Stormboyz do. The one in the close-up pic will be the unit leader, and those metal jawz on the squig will count as a Power Klaw.

Now I just need to scrounge up all of the old mushroom bitz I saved from my Night Goblin army back in the late 90's and put some mushrooms on my Grot Tanks...

Another round of building while awaiting a test. This time it was two stormtrooper squads for my Imperial Guard army. Same build and parts as the first squad.

So far, the two squads are at least a torso and legs on a base per model, with the special weapons guys being the most complete. I still have to do a sergeant and voxcaster before kitting out the rest of the squad with their hellguns.

Been trying to decide what to go for first for buying, currently selling some Space Wolves as I can't love playing them, even with their new wolves. Kept ones like the Wulfen and the Dreadnought and of course the Wolves.
It's the decision whether to go with the Werewolf Cultists conversions, Necrons or Soulblight. I already have a few heroes for the Soulblight.
Still got some time to think on it, there is also the idea of doing the Werewolf cultists for Armies on Parade depending on the rules. Then my ideas are always changing, this is one problem. I did got told to start early from the local store manager :p
Still picking out a few more kits for the kitbashing.

Bought these chaps yesterday:

Having noticed that GW have sentenced their regular Orcs to death, I realised I needed to get some more Boyz to accompany another set of 4 of them with shields I bought and painted up a very long time ago. While I’ve sadly been unable to find any of the multipart Boyz sets, I managed to pick up another 2 4-packs yesterday to raise the unit to a usable 12. I’m planning to give them (and the 4 I made a while back) some of my Black Orc bitz (helmets, weapons, a banner and possibly one of the spare drums) to mark them out as a unit of Big’Uns that have nicked some Black Orc gear and are essentially halfway between regular Boyz and Black Orcs as they try to increase their status in the tribe.
