The Old World
A while back TOW got a lengthy FAQ that many call the '1.5 update' because it altered the game mechanics significantly, particularly where infantry were concerned (and in ways that were generally positive, as it dealt with the 6th/7th Edition Cavalryhammer meta that TOW inherited by reintroducing a dash of 8th Edition-derived rules given specifically to infantry units... which has helped to balance out that old rivalry and make both troop types competent at different things). Of course this has made the FAQ a bit bulky as a reference source to have on hand with the rulebook.
Now, many suspect that in this preview, TOW fans will get one of two things:
* A full 2nd Edition (which I find needless at this stage given the current Edition with the FAQ is steaming along fine)
* A '1.5' Rulebook, which is the same as the current rulebook but folds in all the changes resulting from the big 1.5 FAQ (as GW did with the previous Edition of the Middle-Earth SBG). This latter option makes by far the more sense, given this version of the game is only a couple of years in still, and Specialist Games generally follow the old 4-year Edition release cycle of classic GW (or, in the case of Blood Bowl, the newest Edition appeared after a 5-year tenure of the previous one). A revised rulebook of the current Edition will make it much easier for newer players (and those without the patience to flip between a rulebook and a PDF) to jump in and enjoy the game.
