GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

Blood Bowl... been a while since I looked at anything related to that. Is there anything left that hasn't got a representation in Blood Bowl? Well, I suppose if nothing else, it could be "here's a new edition with "refined" rules".
I'm curious what Games Workshop has in store for Blood Bowl. Maybe a new team?

Tell me about it. The Warriors of Chaos sculpts were fine. They were among the more recent sculpts even before Age of Sigmar decided to update them. They then came back, and lo' they still look good. I sort of understood the marauders getting an update, but the Chaos warriors just did not need it.

Especially, as you pointed out, when the Tomb Kings are there, holding up picket signs saying "NOTICE US"

Exactly... I could understand the Marauders at least, firstly because their models were looking a little dated when pitted against the AoS Darkoath, and secondly because they were directly related to the Marauder hordes attacking the Great Bastion. And it was nice to see the new models lean more heavily into the not-Viking aesthetic, to contrast with how the Darkoath had ventured further down the not-Conan aesthetic.

However, the rest of the Chaos models? The Warriors and Knights were certainly fine still, especially as the Chaos Knights were a 7th Edition kit as I recall. There is certainly no need for a plastic Sorcerer or Chaos Lord given at least one model for each was released in 8th (not to mention the options released since then for AoS). They could repackage the Warshrine for TOW as a double box as they did for the Chaos Chariots, but that's not a new thing, just an old thing brought back. The only thing people have rumourmongered about that does deserve a plastic model is the Chaos Dragon, which was alluded to in the preview, but that could have been done on its own without unnecessary resculpts of the other WoC Core Choices.

Also... I certainly hope they do NOT get a new Arcane Journal. Their rules as they are are fine... we do not want the army to go back to the cheesefest they were in 8th.

If GW MUST do an unnecessary resculpt, let it just be done alongside the rumoured 1.5 rulebook and news of Dark Elves coming back. No rewrite of what is a relatively balanced army list in the Ravening Hordes book, please.

By contrast... nobody can dispute the ancient 5th Edition Skeleton sculpts with the 6th Edition upgrade frame for Tomb Kings need to GO, and the Skeleton Warriors/Archers, Horsemen and Chariot kits all really need resculpts. Especially when we have the lovely character models released for the army not long ago that are a world apart from them.

I don't really keep on top of rumours any longer, what is this about?

The Old World :)

A while back TOW got a lengthy FAQ that many call the '1.5 update' because it altered the game mechanics significantly, particularly where infantry were concerned (and in ways that were generally positive, as it dealt with the 6th/7th Edition Cavalryhammer meta that TOW inherited by reintroducing a dash of 8th Edition-derived rules given specifically to infantry units... which has helped to balance out that old rivalry and make both troop types competent at different things). Of course this has made the FAQ a bit bulky as a reference source to have on hand with the rulebook.

Now, many suspect that in this preview, TOW fans will get one of two things:
* A full 2nd Edition (which I find needless at this stage given the current Edition with the FAQ is steaming along fine)
* A '1.5' Rulebook, which is the same as the current rulebook but folds in all the changes resulting from the big 1.5 FAQ (as GW did with the previous Edition of the Middle-Earth SBG). This latter option makes by far the more sense, given this version of the game is only a couple of years in still, and Specialist Games generally follow the old 4-year Edition release cycle of classic GW (or, in the case of Blood Bowl, the newest Edition appeared after a 5-year tenure of the previous one). A revised rulebook of the current Edition will make it much easier for newer players (and those without the patience to flip between a rulebook and a PDF) to jump in and enjoy the game.

And I'm glad to see GW have made the right choice :D

A 1.5 Rulebook, with all the FAQ changes factored in!

Glad to see they still have some common sense at any rate.

I likely won't buy it as I have the 1.0 rulebook and the FAQs, but it's great for new players and those who want everything concentrated into the one book again.

But arcane journal Chaos Warriors.

I will say, I like the new sculpts... But I also still feel they were unneeded. Except for the characters, because Chaos lord on big ol' dragon is cool.

If I get these new Chaos Warriors, they'd be used as Chosen. My chaos lads are mostly Victrix Early Saxons to go for a theme. Have dudes in the iconic armour be Chosen, mail brynie lads be warriors and unarmoured be marauders.

Also not surprised but still disappointed that nothing lizardman this reveal. I'm she the Old World ogre players are happy with the ogor models though. They certainly were in the stream I was watching.

A fair few people are commenting on the choice to have the armour in silver rather than the usual black. I think the design reasoning for the silver is that it better showcases the details - possibly.

Personal headcanon is that the silver armour is because they aren't yet pledged. They aren't sworn to a particular god. But they also aren't yet sworn to Chaos Undivided.

These are, in fact, Warriors of Chaos Undecided.

I think the hullabaloo is because it's just a brighter scheme in general, and outside of the 4 alignments chaos undivided usually is not portrayed with bright, clean armor.

It would appear that the despite @Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl 's hatred of the Warriors of Chaos, they remain very popular...

Yeah... I will never understand that. Especially as the box as a whole is arguably the most unimaginative boxed game ever produced for Warhammer Fantasy. Clearly too many people think the Old World should be more like Westeros with the whole storyline being humans vs humans :shifty:

But on the other hand, I'd like to think this more than anything shows that Warriors with their significantly less ridiculous rules, and TOW as a whole, continue to be popular :coolest:

GW in Australia have TOW box set at $405. Yet I can get it locally for only $319. $86 cheaper. Not that I'll be buying it as I don't want any Cathay.

now i need to find a pdf copy... :p

How much TOW do you play? I thought you were more into 40k.

None, because the scene is dead in my area, the closest I can get being 8th edition... except they are among the most toxic players I've ever encountered when it comes to Warhammer. Regrettably, a friend of mine is among that number, and is arguably THE most toxic among them...

What's the saying? No gaming is better than bad gaming.
